Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked an unguided hike for Mount Fuji, mainly so we can access a stay at one of the Mountain Huts. Had some doubts whether Tokyo Gaijins were still in this business as no reviews had been posted for some years, but sure enough, we had our Bus ticket, hike, mountain hut accommodation, and return home with a stop at a local Onsen as part of our full package. Thanks so much Tokyo Gaijins and Ricky who coordinates the package! It was a hard journey to the top in some pretty ugly weather, but the Sunrise view was fantastic!!

First things first, Jordan is better-looking than Ricky. However, they both organize great events within and around the Tokyo area (the rest of the Tokyo Gaijins crew are top notch as well). I have had a blast on every trip I've attended, and always appreciate the level of detail and timeliness of the information received before each trip.
Check out their website, find an event you're interested in, sign up, pay the money, and then show up at the pick-up location. So simple. The rest is taken care of, including dietary needs, rooming requests (if booking with friends or a significant other), rental gear, etc. The best part? You get to meet and hang out with a wonderful group of people on each trip.
Great for those new to Tokyo and for seasoned veterans, and at reasonable prices. Really is a MUST do.

Tokyo Gaijins is like a second family to me: wonderful, warmhearted people to travel with and experience the best places in Japan. I am so glad I found this group. The trip organizers/guides are very professional and friendly. I am hooked and I keep coming back.

With Tokyo Gaijins you can discover beautiful nature of Japan which has a different attraction in each season through varieties of sports, activities and events. Their well-organized tours led by experienced lovely tour guides and chance to meet great fellow travelers keep me as well as many other people coming back over and over again.
Since I began joining their trips two years ago and was inspired by people I made friends with, I've started several things such as snowboarding, diving, hiking and camping, which I had never expected to do before. I'm looking forward to continuing to share memorable moments with them.
Tokyo Gaijins is recommended not only for foreigners and Japanese living in the capital sphere but also for people staying in Tokyo for a while and wanting to explore Kanto, Chubu, and Tokai region on a weekend.

On a 3 week trip to Japan I discovered this amazing group that offers a variety of outings taking tourists off the regular tourist path. I joined a trip to the snow fields of Shiga Kogen where the group had fun skiing, snowboarding and partying at a local craft beer festival. The trip included a short, easyish trek to see the snow monkeys. It was a good way to meet the mix of nationalities on the trip - expatriates, tourists and locals. It also gave me the chance to experience local culture and food. I especially liked the roadstop where I enjoyed a hot cup of tea in a can out of a vending machine. The trip was very well organised and fantastic value for money.
The other trip I enjoyed with this group was a trip to the Hanami (CherryBlossom) Festival where we picnicked under the blossoming cherry trees. The group organisers put in a great effort to secure a venue for the group.
As a solo travel this was an excellent way to meet other travellers, some who have become lifelong friends

Did my first (and hopefully not last) Tokyo Gaijins event when the group went to the mountains in Nagano (Shiga Koen + Onsen Monkeys). A couple of huge pluses here
1) They organize everything so you don't have to worry about coordinating or planning
2) Free snowboarding and ski lessons for beginners - Jordan was my instructor. Super helpful and patient. Spent about 2 hours with the guy as he coached me through the motions. Not great at it, but the powder was awesome and I had a great experience.
3) You meet a number of different people from different walks of life. If you want to make new friends or just meet people, this is definitely a great option.
4) Price is right - Prices are really fair for Japan and the convenience factor was there. I think you can sign up pretty late for some of these events for those of you with a tenuous schedule in Tokyo and still join in if there's space.
Definitely one of my highlights of being here. They even have an easy to use system where you make payments through Mizuho bank by following their website.

TG is a great operation. Years of experience obviously shows with their efficient and fun trips. I used to join the ski trips almost every other weekend. Met some awesome expats who I still keep in touch with. Very much recommended if looking for a fun group and well organized trips!

I moved to Tokyo by myself a couple of years ago and wanted to get to know people here (who could speak English!) Now I am still in Tokyo and a great number of my friends are people I've met through these trips. I especially recommend the dolphin swimming, the island camping trips and of course every weekend of the snow season!

The skiing trips with Tokyo Gaijin Club are an amazing experience and gave me one of the best memories in a long time. Professionally organized and more importantly full of fun time, they keep you coming back - and many people indeed do come back on a very regular basis. Definitely give it a go if you can!

Hi there,
Thanks for contacting us. We are sorry to inform you that we only take group (min. of 12 people) reservations for private tours. But we do offer weekend tours if that is an option for you. You will find them on our website (tokyogaijins) or another option is to look for skiJapan I think they provide private/family bookings.
Have a great day.

Hi, I am visiting Japan feb 2020 with my son. (10 years old) we are wanting to visit the snow. What tours do you offer? And are they over 2 days ? and cost ect please? thank you :)
Written 3 December 2019
Hi there,
We offer several tours in February normally over the weekend so a minimum of 2 days in the snow. Depending on the length of stay, the ski resort & the optional tours, for example, to see the snow monkey's prices can variate. Mostly our tours concentrate on ski & snowboarding but we also organize tours to some snow festivals. Our prices start at ¥23,900, a kids discount is available for each trip.
If you have any further questions feel free to contact us anytime.
If you want more details you can also check our website:

We are going toTokyo in Jan 2020, could you take us to Gala snow resort and Mount Fuji on a day trip?

Written 25 September 2019
Hi Tia,
Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not operate tours during that time to Mt. Fuji. Probably the easiest way for you is to go by Shinkansen (Train, Bus). This tickets you can easily get at every station or you can apply for the Japan Railway Pass which is a cheap solution if you want to travel around Japan.
Sorry that we can't do more for you but if you have any interest in joining a ski/snowboard trip we are more than happy to help you out with that!
Best regards,
Birte
