Spent the day here as the weather was it so great and wanted to do something indoors. Good for kids and adults young at heart. Great exhibitions, would definitely recommend watching The Asimo demonstration and taking a ride on Personal Mobilty Uni Cub.

When I think of Japan and emerging sciences I think of awesome new technology and groundbreaking science... so I came to this museum expecting to see prototypes, robotics, medical advancements, information on groundbreaking work they're looking into... but I was quite disappointed with what was available. Yes, there were some robotic aspects with the talking robot thing at the beginning... More

A friend took me to the Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, and I was a bit disappointed. Their star attraction is ASMIO, a robot that hasn't been updated in years. There were other exhibits, but because of the crowds, each attraction had a wait. So we spent our time standing around and waiting instead of actually getting to interact... More

There are lots of hands on things to do, with English explanations of the exhibits. Our favourites were watching Asimo the robot and operating the robotic arms to try and remove a tumour. Unfortunately we missed seeing the android in operation, though she is eerily lifelike.

I was looking forward to visit this museum, because I thought it will be spectacular. It was actually pretty disappointing! The robot they showed for the live demo was already 6 (!) years old, which means in the robotic field it's ancient. The rest was also pretty average or outdated. So for a city like Tokyo and a national museum... More

I decided to visit Odaiba just for Miraikan. Getting here is a little expensive and take a lot of time but it worth to do. In museum there a lot of interesting things which are connected with science and future of our planet. Not so many tourists. I was disillusioned with robot Asimo performance. Looks like they are showing the... More

Because I didn't expect a museum would be this exciting, I scheduled a 3 hour visit including the movie at the dome theater. I barely had enough time only to go through the exhibits in third floor (including the performance of 'Asimo', the robot) and the movie. As a museum it is not huge as compared to National museum in... More

We visited this museum as part of a group tour of Japan, but although the buliding is interesting and the globe inside is of some interest, it is not a museum that is on a "must" list. It may be that it is not geared for a foreign visitor. The demo of the robot was quite mediocre.

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
