The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.

    Short One Minute Transformation
The Gundam statue was visible from the train which drew us back to it after we visited the Miraikan Museum. We happened to be in the area at the 1pm and it repeated every two hours from 11:00 until 17:00. The transformation itself was pretty quick and finished in around one minute. Nothing too exciting. The night shows, starting at 19:00 and tan every half hour until 21:30, was supposed to be more exciting with additional flashing lights. If you’re a fan of Gundam then this would be a must see. It was built to be life size and was a lot larger than the first Gundam statue I saw outside the Siam Paragon Mall in Bangkok. After viewing, one can also go inside the Diver City Plaza and shop at the Gundam Base store at the top.

Genuine feedbacks from a 10 year kid of mine
As an adult, we were there for our 2 little ones. We didn't expect much except the kiddos do have some expectations. It's kind of a 'sweating' expectations. "It was OK, but I expected better. It was nice, I would have liked it better if it were not just a few light shows. I wish that it could actually move. That way, it could make good use of all the wonderful sounds. When the first sound came, I actually thought the Gundam will move and start performing some battle moves, and probably even start walking around and people will scream in fear of the Gundam stepping on them. But at the end, it will just be a hologram." - Specific feedbacks from my kid - Pris If you have not seen such a large Gundam, as an adult with kids, I would still recommend visiting this place, despite the place has sort of 'fail' my kid. :-)

    Cool to see once
If you enter the DiverCity Plaza Mall, go into the 2nd floor food court and follow the exit that says, "Festival Plaza." There's Decora Creamery near the exit. It was cool to see once. There's morning and night shows. The schedule is/was 11:00/13:00/15:00/17:00 and then 19:00/19:30/20:00/20:30/21:00/21:30 During the early shows it does the lights and transformation. The evening shows it does the same with anime clips playing so I'd catch the night shows if possible. Plus since the schedule is closer you can catch multiple easy. Gundam Base is on the 7th floor of the mall if you want to buy toys.

    Kids will enjoy
Kids will love this statue and at certain times of the day he lights up and a few bits move. Looks a bit better at night. So if you are in the area a quick look and picture but unless you have kids we wouldn't suggest to go out of the way.

The robot only functions when the mall is open.
No tickets needed, 100% free, outside the mall. It's a life size reproduction of a gundam with lights and movements, the arms and legs don’t move. Light shows take place on the half-hour between 7 pm and 9 pm. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to watch the light show because I had dinner reservations.

The Life-Sized UNICORN GUNDAM Statue in Tokyo's Odaiba district is a must-see for any anime and mecha fan. Loved it ❤️ Standing at an impressive 19.7 meters, this towering statue is a tribute to the iconic Gundam series, which has been a cornerstone of Japanese pop culture since its debut in 1979. The Unicorn Gundam, specifically, comes from the "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn" series. The statue impressively shifts between Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode, adding a dynamic element to the experience. The light and sound show in the evening is spectacular and brings the Gundam to life.

We always make sure to stop in Odaiba to see the 1:1 Gundam every time we go to Japan. From the classic RX-78 to the current Unicorn I do feel this is landmark of Japan loved by the people who live there and foreigners alike. This should clearly be on the list for people who like anime, robots, science fiction, etc - but I would say there's a good chance anyone would enjoy seeing something like this come to life. It's a work of art. Relatively quick to get to from multiple train stops, and the Diver City mall is quite extensive with a good food court as well.

This amazing model is on the side of the Diver City Plaza in Toyko. The best entrance to find it in the plaza is by the food court on the ground floor. The model is incredibly detaile, very big and just awesome. Lots of people were outside with me taking photos (selfie, posting with friends etc) ever though the day wasn't sunny. If you're a fan, you won't be disappointed. It was awesome to see in person.

My brother absolutely wanted to go visit this Statue. It was quite tall, around 33meters high he told me. There are a lot of people taking pictures with the Gundam!

During the night the Gundam glows in the colors: blue and red.

You can also see the Gundam from far away with the blue private railway on the way to Teamlabs!

The Gundam Unicorn statue is a fab attraction. It's static, so if you want some movement you'd better go to Yokohama at the Gundam Factory while it's still open. However, better with than without. I would not recommend going to Odaiba just for this, though.

It’s fun to see a life size Gundam statue/model, especially for fans, though I think anyone can find it interesting to look at such a huge symbol of Japanese pop culture displayed so proudly.
Popular with a lot of people taking photos.

Not familiar with Gundam so for us it was just a statue.
But understand that this is big in Japan. Make sure to see when you're in Odaiba anyway.
