This is the electronics Mecca in Japan . They have all international models available here. Although they advertise that you would fine staff aware of 20plus languages , frankly I could hardly find anyone who could interact in English

Akihabara is an electronics and Japanese Animation Mecca. Anything you want to find is here. Stores are large and brightly lit. Best to go early in the day before stores are crowded with Chinese tour groups.

Interesting place to walk around, not only to see electrical goods but also animine, with cosplay dressed ladies. However, many electrical goods are made in China, so you have to scan for products which states made in Japan, like Citizen, Seiko and Casio.

We went through a few retro video game shops but were disappointed not to find as much NES games as we hoped. We walked through a huge building I believe that was pretty crazy local with everything and at the top two levels of video arcades... Very fun to see area with lots going on.

The capital of Japanese pop culture. Our first stop in Tokyo & one of our favourites. Such a range of electronics, souvenir shops, maid cafes, video games/retro & modern arcades & anime merch available, you’ll spend hours in just one of the seven story buildings. Decent prices, interesting shops & a complete experience full of colour & life wandering around... More

Was a must see place in Tokyo. Loads of electronics at great prices and deals. Literally a choice of every gadget. The Apple Store was missing though. The hobby center has a few mean gadgets. Loads of average restaurants. Vat friendly shops offer 8% less on showing a physical passport for tourists.

Been to Japan numerous trips and visited countless places. I have to crown LAOX Akihabara men's toilet on the 7th floor as the champion of the dirtiest and smelliest Toilet in whole of Japan! All staff try their best to wag their mandarin to tourist but can't keep a toilet clean. Or simply over used by too much CS. It's... More

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
