If you can't visit Orgosolo with someone from Orgosolo, this is the best way of doing that.
The idea of creating a guide is brilliant, as it allow you to listen to the stories of some murales, understanding their meaning and what muralism means.
Sardegna is full of open air museum (and I love that! I love the idea of a museum for everyone), but is rare to find a guide.
Adding to this, Miriam is welcoming and she takes care of you, in a very kind way.
I definitely suggest to use the guide and to take enough time to walk slowly and take some of the suggestion of the guide, like visiting the silkworm museum.
Ah! If the desk is close, try to call!

There are many murals painted on the walls of the buildings in Orgosolo. We stopped here with our tour group and our guide walked us down the main street, explaining some of the murals. Many of them are political. The area used to be known for bandits.
We were disappointed, having seen other mural towns in other parts of the world, we found many of the paintings here in Orgosolo somewhat amateurish and not very interesting.
On another note, there are some lovely cork souvenirs for sale in the shops here. It is amazing what they can do with cork.

Didn't know what to expect as hadn't read up on the history but I was pleasantly surprised with amount of murals , the easy walk, ability to stop for a coffee , cold drink, lunch.
Parked in the square where the audio tourist office is (you can spend unlimited time here from the kind policeman's gesticulations !). We were there around 11/12 and it was busy but come 1pm it quietened down as tourist buses left and locals shut up shop for the afternoon.
Recommend the audio tour , commentary plus walk goes for around 90 mns, about 80 murals I think. Cost was €15 for 2. The commentary gives you the right context to appreciate the messages depicted in the murals. Kids got a bit tired so we didn't do the whole thing
Great valley views as well
As part of a driving trip through the area , definitely worth a stop.

We stopped in Orgosolo to have a walk around the town and see murals. They are really interesting showing different events from past 100+ years and the overall experience and the feel of the town are really positive. Two ideas how to make it even better and attract more tourists. Make the murals street pedestrian only area. Yes there was a barrier set up by police but locals were removing it and driving through. Ensure there is a small information in english next to each mural - yes you can rent audioguide but visitng with a kid means we did not have time for a long walk but would love to read some short explanation next to each mural. Highly recommended!

A fascinating political and social view in street paintings that is beyond graffiti and art. Best taken advantage of with map and audio guide (Englidh, French, Italian and German).

Fantastic collection of street arts can be seen almost everywhere in the city, reflecting both political views and emotions of inhabitants, also the the history of last decades.

There are many more murals than I expected. It is possible to spend over one hour walking and looking at them. Some are very impressive. There are also some nice views of the countryside, and other scenic houses along the way. There is a free car park at the beginning to where the main murals start in the Corso Repubblica (GPS 40.2039363,9.3580511). There are other murals to discover throughout the town.

My wife and I went to Orgosolo for the murals, they are fantastic! Social commentary, history, resistance and more. The audioguide provided us with important context that allowed us to take in the richness of the area and these works. The business owner is warm and helpful and for $10 Euros, you get a walk-a-your-own-pace tour. It is well worth the modest cost! Enjoy.

This audio guide, which can be purchased from a stand in the main square, is extremely helpful in aiding the visitor in understanding the context of the murals in Orgosolo, as well as providing interesting insights into individual murals. The self-guided tour, with accompanying map, takes about 1-2 hours, depending on how quickly you move through the murals, and how many other tourists there are in town!
Overall, we thought this guide was very good value (10 euro for two users) and really brought the town and murals to life.

We visited this area on an excursion with a group from our holiday. It was an interesting experience the town was quaint with murals painted on the sides of shops and houses depicting past political struggles and more up date refugee crisis 911 twin towers. There were a few shops selling the usual tourist items and a few cafes and bars. It was nice for a couple of hours.

Hello. How much time do you suggest for the visit or Orgosolo and its murals?
I mean, I don't expect to see all of them. Just want to have an overview.
Thank you! :-)

Hello. You can visit Orgosolo and its 80 socio-political murals just in one day. There's avaible an audioguide that explains them very well. Enjoy your trip! Nearby there is the spring of the river Cedrino and a typical restaurant at Su Cologone. Bye.
