When Peter Yealands first discovered a little-known, but spectacular,...

When Peter Yealands first discovered a little-known, but spectacular, corner of Marlborough, an incredible story began to unfold. By 08.08.08, through a bold vision and a capacity for sheer hard work that few could comprehend, Peter was standing alongside his world-leading carboNZeroCertTM Yealands Estate winery with his sights firmly set upon becoming the world's most sustainable wine producer. Combining the very latest cutting-edge green technology and highly innovative thinking, the Yealands name quickly became synonymous with a passion for crafting ultra-premium wines in the most environmentally-friendly manner.

Our cosy and intimate Cellar Door provides a relaxing hideaway where you can discover the Yealands Estate story and try our quality portfolio of wines whilst relaxing in unhurried comfort.

Recently awarded the International Winner for Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices, our Cellar Door demonstrates our world leadership in sustainable wine production.

Join us for a complimentary tasting of our wines and take in the picturesque views across the vineyard and Cook Strait on our self-guided vineyard tour.

We were totally blown away at the size of Yealands and also extremely impressed with the environmentally friendly approach Peter has developed in every aspect of the winery. The wines are superb, especially the baby doll Sauvignon Blanc and the sparkling Pinot Gris blush. It's possibly the last winery heading south, but it is an absolute must to visit. I... More

Stunning vineyard with incredible views. Its worth the drive from blenheim. They show a brief 8 minute movie about the why and how. The staff at the tastings were fabulous. Full of knowledge and so friendly. Also well worth taking the white road drive around the vineyard. Its signposted at various points to describe what you're seeing. Lots of picnic... More

Short drive out of Blenheim, the sea views are amazing. The vineyard property is a showcase. Congrats on all the eco work that gets done! The self drive is a must. The wines are lovely too.

Yealands is an innovative winery - taking care of the land and producing exceptional wines. We were here for a wine tasting (that included a short video) and we were impressed with the wines and the whole area. They probably have the best Sauvignon Blanc I've ever had - I m not a white wine fan, but I enjoyed this.... More

Just about a 30 minute ride from Blenheim, but very nice. The entire property was very impressive as of course were the wines. Tasting on going at no charge. Short video tells history.

The short video was informative and interesting and the cellar door staff were friendly and welcoming. Also looking at what they do for sustainability is very important. We were looking forward to the views during the self drive tour however we must have made a wrong turn so ended up on the wrong road..this was a bit of a downer..some... More

If we have guests to stay I always take them to PY Winery. The drive to the vineyard is pretty with well landscaped roadsides, the view of the acres and acres of vineyard is amazing, especially in the autumn, the building itself is ultra modern, but looks perfect in the landscape. When you enter the building you MUST go and see the video, which tells you everything... We stopped by and watched their introductory DVD which explained their ethos very well. This is a large company who have created a carbon neutral environment. We sadly didn't get to see any of the micro-sheep but really enjoyed all of the Yealands Estate wines, the Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir were both excellent.

Beautiful modern winery building, with an excellent tasting room and presentation on the development of the vineyard. The vineyards are the largest I have ever seen literally as far as the eye can see, 1000 ha and there is an informative self guided tour of the vineyard with picnic sites and descriptions at points of interest. In fact "wine tourism"... More
