My wife and I took a bus tour to the Castle of Santa Barbara in Alicante , Spain a few months ago, and could not believe how beautiful the Castle and views of the entire city were. First of al,l the narrow drive up the hill to the Castle is very dangerous and it is almost impossible for the buses... More

The castle holds a commanding view of the city below, and offers great views and a nice place to relax. If you are up for the climb, the paths are rather well maintained, and for those who need it, a rather inexpensive elevator goes from beach-level up to the castle.

We went here first on an open top bus tour of the city. It's up a huge hill which looked a bit daunting as we hadn't hired a car. The bus stops every hour normally, but more frequently on the days when cruise ships are in town. I don't think I'd recommend driving up. Very winding road with not many... More

Easily reached by lift. Stunning views of the coast, town and surrounding mountains. Interesting historic place to explore at a leisurely pace and soak up the atmosphere. Plenty of kiosks for coffee and snacks. Nice walk back down hill through parkland.

I chose to take the lift up & walked down. On reaching the top, one is greeted with magnificent panoramic views of Alicante & surrounding areas. The castle is a great place to explore & have a relaxing meander. The multilingual plaques make good reading & offers some of the history about the origins of the castle. The walk down... More

Get up there it's Amazing View it was convenience for us cause we drove our own car easy for the car park it's free. Not good for disable people cause so many stairs upstairs. Would recommend to go up in the evening before sunset as you can experience both day and night feeling. It's so beautiful with the lights at... More

Used the lift both ways (free to over 65 on production of ID) and had a walk around the castle. The all round views were spectacular.

Tunnel access to the lift from the promenade. Useful information panels in the tunnel. Lift free for seniors but take passport to confirm age. Interesting castle with terrific views but shortage of information around the castle.

Very much enjoyed the castle for a morning. Lots of sights to see and some interesting museum exhibits. Very cheap as well, paying only Eu3 for the express lift ride to the top. Well worth a visit.

This place provides an amazing panoramic view of alicante city and its coastline. Its worth it. We paid almost 3 euro (2.75 i think or somerthing like that, less than 3 euro though) each for the elevator trip up to the castle. The place is lovely. There is even a place that you can sit and enjoy the sun while... More
