Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nestled in the foothills of Mount Etna, if you are looking for some peace and quiet with some good wine, then this place is for you. With only a limited number of rooms, it does have an exclusive feel to it, as the rooms are in a building secluded from the winery's main tasting buildings, with an infinity pool that has some spectacular views.

Obviously as an active winery there will be plenty of wine tours popping in throughout the day, however this was never bothersome.

Villegrande Winery is relatively isolated, with the village of Milo just over 1km up the hill, so if you are looking for lunch or dinner alternatives then this will be the nearest option. With that said the tasting menu together with wine pairings is out of this world and excellent value for money. The chef is obviously very talented as well as imaginative as they rotate 4 menus so in theory you will not eat the same menu unless you stay for 5 nights.

The rooms are comfortable, clean and well equipped (including a range of their wines). There is a lounge area with tea and coffee facilities should you wish to make use of them. The breakfast was outstanding and for a nice change a la carte.

It should be noted that Villegrande is run very similar to a B&B with the addition of a restaurant. Therefore do not expect to find a bar or restaurant for lunch.

Very special wine tasting experience. We arrived by car from Taormina an extremely warm july day - staff was extremely welcoming and took us on a fabulous cellar tour to cool off. After that, we did the wine tasting with lunch. Even if i am not a very big wine fan, this was excellent. Recommend it!

My wife and I enjoyed our tour and wine tasting. Our guide was very informative and charming. The wine was excellent. We enjoyed food paired with the wines, which was quite good. It is a beautiful setting as well.

This was our second visit, having had a wonderful time in October 2019.
Due to Covid the number of visitors to the winery are down, but the rooms are still busy, it would be nice to see other people than residents on the restaurant for dinner.
But the staff were excellent, very friendly, and efficient. We enjoyed great breakfasts, and brilliant dinners paired with their lovely wines.
Even went for a dip in the infinity pool that overlooks the vineyards and towards the coast.
We will be back!

A great spot for lunch after a hike around Mount Etna.

This winery is over 200 years old and the first to produce wine on the volcanic slopes. The winery is small and the tour only takes you to see the vineyards in a caldera and then a cellar where they have barrels and store the wines. It’s not very elaborate but they are impeccably polite and knowledgeable.

Then comes the star of the show and the beautifully prepared food paired with their wines. They also work with a Catania olive oil producer whose oil is out of this world. They cater to food allergies, vegetarians, etc. Service is friendly and prompt.

They also have a small winery in the Aeolian Islands that produces a delicious DOC dessert wine you can taste.

Highly recommended.

Like a Sicilian beauty, it lies stretched out up the back of Mount Etna Perched In the sicilian Sun. The Wine, food and atmosphere wisper calmly to the poor touristic crowds In Taormina of another and better World. We fell In love with everything here, love at first sight. The people here are adorable, full of charm and open to the World - grazie 1000. Bettina and Stig

We had hoped to go to Planeta and thru and mix up didn't get onto their reservation list. As a last minute attempt to visit a local Sicilian winery we tried Barone di Villagrande. It was fabulous. The winery tour was relatively short and not overly technical or oenophile oriented. The lunch and wine paring were spectacular. The quality of the food was superb, definitely high end restaurant quality. The wines were all very good in my opinion. We were with another couple who aren't real wine fans and even they were impressed with the tour, lunch and wines. Hi'd highly recommend this small winery to anyone looking for a wine tasting in the eastern slopes of Etna area.

We had a “girls” day out for lunch. The wine pairing lunch was amazing . The quality of food and wine are too notch. The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable. And if you’d like a peaceful retreat to read, swim and enjoy some quality down time this is your place! Highly recommend and I’d definitely go back. Great place for an event as well!

It is so beautiful. The views are amazing. The staff is SO ACCOMMODATING. The food is amazing. And, the wine is even better!!! They welcome you with wine! Get married there! Celebrate an anniversary there! Or, just celebrate Sicily there!! I will be back and I will stay longer than a night or two. I can't recommend it enough.
