Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The journey up there by the little tram was pleasant enough but not a lot to see on the way. The waterfall itself is pretty underwhelming. If someone is a walker however, there are some waymarked footpaths which lead off the area where the terminus is.

The visit to the Lichtenhain waterfall unfortunately disappointed us a bit. We arrived on the charming Kirnitzschtalbahn, which is definitely an experience worthwhile. Once at the waterfall, however, the first impression was sobering: The small waterfall is rather splashing and impresses little. Every half hour, the water is backed up and then released, which is announced with the epic song "Conquest of Paradise" – almost a little exaggerated for this minimal effect.
Right next to the waterfall there is a restaurant that also offers small things through a window. We treated ourselves to a small glass of mulled wine, but the price of 4 € seemed quite high to us.
In summary: The waterfall is not a real highlight and is only worth a visit if you are already nearby.

The Lichtenhain waterfall is quite unspectacular, but children like it and after all it has tradition.
But now to the restaurant, we were back for dinner as every year. It's just peaks moderate. There's the world's best sauerbraten. There was also nothing to complain about in the other dishes. One day Mary served us. Despite great stress she was very friendly and also brought us the drinks super quickly. There are many operators who could take an example from this.

I recommend this waterfall and a cafe nearby because of the freshest nicest food and amazing beer. Highly recommend to take a trout here or any sort of meat. Lovely!

If you were in the small valley behind Bad Scandau with a free afternoon, it would be worth it to take the historic trolley (tram) up to the waterfall for a coffee or a beer in a nice location. The valley and stream are lovely. The waterfall itself is very small and hardly worth the effort needed to see it. To add insult, somebody or some machine up stream releases a small short burst of water for about a minute every 30 minutes or so.
Mostly a "don't waste your time" thing.

Forget this waterfall and walk on to the Kuhstall. This is about 45 minutes walk. Beautiful walk to a very nice rocky outcrop with views.

A bit disappointing…
It is highly advertised, but in reality it means little.
You can get there by historic tram, a nice ride that takes less than half an hour
