Not all of the sites on Hadrian's Wall were heavily guarded fortresses. Corbridge was a supply base and bustling town where the Romans and civilians would pick up food and provisions.

Today, you can still walk through the town's streets and experience a true time-capsule of Roman life. You can see a valuable hoard of objects found during excavations, including Roman armour and trinkets, which provide a fascinating insight into the life of a soldier.

A very interesting museum in two parts. The outside part is fascinating, a tour of the remains of the Roman town. There are plenty of information boards, explaining what each place was and reconstructing how they thought it would have been in Roman times. The inside part is equally fascinating, displaying many household items that would have been in regular... More

Corbridge, is a super little village. There's obviously lots of Roman history. The shops are independent. Lots of interesting gift, ladies, men's, restaurants, tea shops. The buildings of interest too. The owners's wife, in the rather well stocked Man's shop, (sorry the name escapes me at the moment) was delightful and very helpful. All in all a lovely couple of... When we arrived there was only 1 other couple on the site so it was very peaceful. The site shows such an insight into Roman life nearly 2000 years ago. The ruined buildings demonstrate what skilled tradesmen & builders the Romans were. The museum inside the visitors centre houses some great finds from the site & a bit more history... More

Great place to see some stunning scenery and visit a town that is full of history . The Corbridge bridge offers superb views and is a must see on a visit to the town I would recommend the black bull pub as a great place to eat and sample some local beers

Great for kids, make a day of it to get your monies worth, good visitor attraction. If some of your party are not so much into Romans then Corbridge is only a short distance away and there is so much to do there as well.

Thank Ian W
