Although a little off the beaten track, this castle is well worth a visit. It is still intact and was lived in until the 1960's Helpful staff gave a brief explanation of the history.

We enjoyed this castle more than Prudhoe castle which we visited on the same day small but interesting and dog friendly. Would have liked to have seen more exhibits but it was still an interesting hour.

We were on our way to Corbridge and saw this site in the English Heritage guide. A fortified manor house rather than a true castle it was a working farm until the 1960's. Access is via either of two single track roads. This is OK...More
