Not Very Green but Tranquil
Jun. 2021
Established in 1975 and clocking in at a respectable 346.9 hectares, Green Lake Provincial Park is located approximately 20 kilometers outside 70 Mile House. The Park’s distinguishing feature – and what drew us to it – is its unique green colouring. According to the Province, the lake’s low flush rate, concomitant with its chemical composition and warm waters, is what creates the distinctive green colour. Indeed, many of the propaganda photos online certainly paint an attractive picture.

The Park is dotted with 121 campsites at 3 locations: Emerald Bay, Sunset View and Arrowhead. The latter site is noteworthy because it is the only one to offer waterfront camping and small beaches suitable for swimming and fishing.

Green Lake Provincial Park marked our final touristy stop en route to the Okanagan. I’m not sure if it was the hour of the day (just after 8PM), but the lake – at Arrowhead – didn’t look very green to us. Still, that didn’t detract from the beauty of the site. The area was peaceful, calm and quiet. We took a moment to stroll along one of the small beaches and marvel at the attractive campsites. Indeed, if we were to go camping, Green Lake would definitely make the proverbial shortlist. Beautiful British Columbia at its best!

Worth the drive off 97
Sep. 2020
A lovely lake to drive around and picnic or stop to swim at the many beaches with picnic tables. A great break driving north that really doesn't take a lot of time away from the 97.

Wetland Conservation Area
May 2019
As soon as we entered the North Bonaparte Rd, we saw a lot of water areas. Green Lake is one of the biggest. We didn't go to the camping area of Green Lake but we drove to the South West Greenlake where it is a conservation area for wetland birds. We made a short stop and go further finishing our track on the N. Bonaparte Rd. which it was quite a rough road.

Lots of Beaches!
Jul. 2018
On our way through the cariboo we had to stop at Green Lake for a couple hours, to see if all the good stories were true; we found Green Lake to be amazing. It has such clear water, and really is green when you swim like 10meters in, it's amazing. My recommendation to drive past the lake on the Arrowhead Campground side. There's some really nice private beaches along the lake.. boat launches too..

Great place in Caribou for a swim
Jul. 2018 • Family
Green Lake in the Caribou, BC area is a beautiful lake with beautiful green coloured water. It is a great place for camping with a few designated campgrounds as well as a place to go swimming for the day (this is one of the few lakes with a nice sandy beach).

If you are going for a swim, then you might visit the Little Arrowhead campground on the lake. This is a nice place to go with small children. Recommended you bring an umbrella as there is not much shade. Also bring your floating chairs. There are a couple of picnic tables.

If you are planning to go camping, then you need to book a place (several months) in advance as the campgrounds can fill up.

Stunning Lake, beautiful color! Good for swimming, boating and birdwatching or just relaxing on the shores reading a book. Motorized boats are allowed and the lake is really big for exploring

Beautiful!
Jun. 2018 • Family
Nice park, roomy and right on the water. Watch for the signs, easy to miss. The lake color is incredible! It was crystal clear in June and made for great swimming/kayaking on the warmer days.

Beautiful Park
Jun. 2018 • Friends
This park is just lovely. Beautiful beach, mature trees and great views. Laundry and bathrooms, with showers, function well but have seen better days. Stay away from the 3 way sites(sewer, water and electrical). They are very narrow..we could not fully extend our trailer's canopy. The 2 way (water and electrical) and tent sites are much better. This park met our needs but may not be for everyone.
