This was our second visit here and it was just as much fun as the first. The setup and design of the evening is great, the food is excellent but what really makes this experience outstanding is the chef Yuki. She is enthusiastic, cheerful and quite funny. Her passion not only for the quality of the food but also for the enjoyment of the attendees is obvious. We’ll be back again 😊

We attended our first cooking class taste of Asia experience Last night for our 3rd anniversary ..
Something a little different from our normal going out to eat .. We arrived and I can’t lie was unsure what we would experience. Was paired up into groups of 3 and taken into the kitchen . Where we were given our recipes and given time to chat amongst our group a little ice breaker to chat amongst ourselves .. A team leader is appointed by the group and little prep jobs divided up
Some of the prep already done for you which def helps given the time frame and amount of dishes you are preparing.
We had a absolute ball with our cooking and preparation our group worked really well together and prepared some amazing and tasty dishes which we got to eat ..
was delicious and lots of fun...
our teacher yuki was easy to talk to had great knowledge of cooking and enjoyed some humour.. all in all highly recommended and will definitely be back ..
seen some review said he didn’t get to eat the food :/ not sure what he smoking but definitely ignore stupid and give it a try
You won’t be disappointed :)
Thanks guys see you next time

We ordered the at home cooking class one pack, it provided all of the ingredients for three recipes including dumplings, pad Thai and green curry. The ordering and pick up process was so easy, very organised. The pack included fresh, great quality, authentic ingredients! Everything you need, you just have to add your protein of choice. The online videos of the recipes were great, lots of great tips and stepped through the process as if you were there doing it with them. All three recipes turned out beautifully! Couldn’t get better in a restaurant and all in the comfort of your own home! Such a great idea at this time when we can’t go out and great to support a small local business! Thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely make all of the recipes again. Now to perfect our own curry paste! Thank you!

We received a gift voucher for an overnight stay and cooking class that is currently valued at $685.00. It was due to expire on 30 June 2019. Unfortunately, life circumstances intervened, and we did not use the gift voucher before the expiry. Whilst in my experience most companies are happy to work with the customer to extend gift vouchers, Sticky Rice declined to do so. The reason given was that they have not kept records of gift vouchers issued at that time and cannot verify it. I offered to pay any difference in price, given the lapse in time, to ensure they are not worse off but they flatly declined to honour the voucher in any way. When purchasing gift vouchers, it is best to use a company that keeps proper records and is more customer centric.

We are happy to respond to this post with the full facts of the matter.
Maria Demosthenous, contacted us today regarding a voucher which she wanted to use which had expired 27 months ago. The voucher was issued in June 2018 with a 1 year validation period. We responded to the email immediately and searched for the voucher on our system. We searched over the 3 years, 3 month period since issue, but due to its very old expiry date, it was no longer an active search transaction and it could not be validated. Without validation this voucher could have been previously used, cancelled or redeemed for purchases in our shop. We explained this politely in writing.
As per our email response to Maria this afternoon and amid our apologies for her disappointment, this was the relevant part of our actual response that has not been mentioned.
"With regard to our customer service and voucher policy, I can assure you there are plenty of customers who use their vouchers past their expiry date. It is a most common occurrence and we are more than happy to assist with all bookings where we can verify the voucher has not been used. If you intend on writing an accurate and factual review, then please reference the fact that customers can rely on our systems and support for all vouchers up to 1 year past the expiry date. Vouchers are also issued with a 3 year expiry date in line with legislation changes from 1st Nov 2019.”
I will add for the benefit of this post,
”Unfortunately, a lapse of time of over 2 years post expiry date is not guaranteed to be supported but we will certainly try to trace the voucher for you.”
We hope our other customers find this acceptable.
Sticky Rice is committed to fair and honest best practice, we love our customers, we love providing the service that we do and we don't deserve to be threatened, bullied and dragged down by half truths. The response to our efforts today, was to blame and shame us and threaten to post this bad review which appeared 2 hours later. Further threats have followed and our apologies have been shunned as insincere.
Its a sad day when you can't please everyone but this 1 star review is a crime!

We could not have asked for a better experience. We had a private cooking class during the day with Chef Yukkiko. This was perfect, Yuki was fun, patient and so knowledgable. The food we made was amazing, and the experience of cooking and dining was indulgent. We have already recreated one of the recipes. We then stayed the night in Villa Yoko. The villa was incredible, better than the photos and very romantic. Overall we found the staff to be incredibly amazing and thoughtful, they went above and beyond to create an incredible experience and it was worth every cent. I do hope we come back one day soon.

Another fantastic cooking experience. As always great group all there for a cooking experience.
This is the first class I have taken with Jon.
He made the class fun and without to much stress.
Filleting my first Barramundi was an experience in itself, however with Chef Jon’s guidance I managed to complete without to many dramas.
Always a pleasant time & Daniel was on top of the night

From start to finish it was like a farce, like it was the first time she had done the class and she’s been doing it for eleven years. Hard to believe it was a one off. You task share then don’t get to eat the food that YOU MADE . It seemed like she had been thrown in at the last minute. Very poor would not recommend ANYONE to do this ,I learned nothing. She was making excuses ALL NIGHT , A SHAMBLES. The wine was good I have to say. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Dear Man C,
We are certainly shocked by your review and would like to find out more about your negative experience if possible.
For people reading this it certainly does not represent our highly rated cooking classes which we have been delivering for years and the class you were enrolled in has always had great reviews. In every class you learn 4-5 recipes, cooking them alongside a professional chef then sitting down to a banquet meal. How could you not have eaten the food you cooked or learnt anything in 4 hours? It would be more helpful if you could contact us directly as to why you felt this terrible review was necessary or deserved.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you by email to report a problem.

I bought the cooking class for my husbands birthday, he loves creating in the kitchen. We opted for the Moroccan Delights class with chef Alice Nettleton. There were 12 in our class which was a great size, we all got on well and had a laugh, as well as cooking up a storm. There wasn’t a dish that we wouldn’t make again, everything was delicious, plenty of food and wine, the day flew by and we went home well feed and feeling like we had spent a day sharing travel and food stories from around the globe... highly recommend

Attended the school for a Thai cooking lesson and stay at the villa. It was a birthday present for my wife. We arrived at 1:30 pm and checked into rhe Bali villa. The villa is beautiful, mordern and all details attended too. The stay included breakfast provisions and bottle of wine. There was plenty for a hearty breakfast twice over.
The cooking lesson was by chef yukikito she was great. We cooked in groups of 4 or 5. The food was delicious. yuke was great.

We attended the Japanese ‘sushi workshop’ class and walked out feeling quite disappointed. The chef seemed very unprepared to take the class as she was missing ingredients, couldn’t find where kitchen items were, had incorrect information written in the recipes and she appear generally flustered and confused. Initially we thought she had only worked there for a couple of weeks but soon discovered that she had worked there for ten years. She also advised us that she doesn’t like Japanese cuisine, even though she is Japanese and was delivering a Japanese cooking class to people who obviously do.
The class itself was chaotic. Individuals were given separate tasks so that no one made an entire dish, just prepared a portion of it. The chef gave very little direction or supervision so people made mistakes. Tasks were not shared around the group so if you didn’t volunteer immediately, you just watched other people cook.
The sushi portion of the class involved making a roll of sushi each; however, when it was served the sushi that we had made was served to other class mates to eat. And we were left with sushi made by someone who had clearly struggled to do it.
The final dish ‘chicken teriyaki’ was the most disappointing of all. It was all very rushed and the chef continued to tell us we were running late when according to the timing on our confirmation email, that was not the case. The chef began serving the chicken teriyaki when the sauce was very watery we asked her if she was going to reduce it to make it sticky and she said yes. We were told to go start eating while she finished it but when the chicken came out it hadn’t been reduced and just tasted like chicken boiled in a runny sugar syrup.
It’s also worth noting that they supply wine but you can not drink it in the kitchen area while cooking. You are also not allowed to take any food made home so leftovers will all be thrown away.
We were really surprised that we had such a poor experience given the number of great reviews for this school. But I couldn’t recommend it and would not return. Perhaps avoid the Japanese class and try a different style of cuisine if you do go.

Dear Emma i have just seen this review so was totally unaware how disappointed you were until now. Our Japanese Chef is very experienced and has been teaching classes for 10 years and so it is very hard to understand why your class would have been different to any others. Thank you for letting us know.
We take all customer feedback and use it to improve, so I have followed up by sending your review to our staff that were with you on the day and will further investigate with other guests where possible to see if something went wrong on the day that could have been avoided.
Just to clarify, no food gets wasted and generally there are very few leftovers. I note your class only had 13 people in it as there were some cancellations but please don't think we are irresponsible enough to throw food in the bin. We learnt very early on in our business that trying to portion out small amounts of leftovers and share it equally with everyone in the class just doesn't work. People started getting up early from the table to scrape food into containers before other people had finished eating. It was not a pleasant way to finish. The class offers a sit down meal with as much as you can eat from the banquet and plentiful wine. Sorry if you were disappointed that we could not provide takeaway for everyone as well.
