Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is probably one of the coolest places you can bring your whole family including kids. The cellar door sits basically behind the historical Oakland house. And the cellar door itself has a long history of making their delicious Johnston Cordial. We come buy their clove cordial all the time. It's great for Christmas or just to spice up some chocolate or tea. Now for the wines. There's a good range of whites and reds. We like their shiraz the most. Oh there place does delucoous cheese platters and simple lunch as well.

Called on a Sunday lunchtime for a wine tasting, purchased an excellent bottle which we enjoyed with an amazing cheese platter. Highly recommended

Another pleasurable visit to Johnston's Cellar Door at Oakbank. This is our fourth time to the cellar door over the last three years. It is a lovely setting amongst 19th century stone buildings. The family cellar door is so friendly and unassuming - you never feel out of place here. The place is kid friendly having cordial tasting for their own cordial range - a great idea for the young kids who feel just as special as the adults. Lots of room at a large bar with tables/chairs both inside and out. And it never seems to be busy there - just a couple of customers at any one time. And we love their Sauv Blancs and Pinot Gris! Strongly recommended!

Great place to visit. Gorgeous building, very nice wines and very friendly staff. The cordials are a special surprise treat and tastings are greatly appreciated by the pregnant family members. They are also great value for money. it is very hard to come away without wine and cordials to take home.

Johnston's are a Adelaide Hills Icon, once a local brewery and hotel owner, now a winery and producer of fine cordials. The upgraded cellar door and function venue has a great tasting room and provides local platters. This has been a must visit for many years.

The production facility and the reception hall are facing each other. In the reception room plenty of information about the history of the winery. First time that I drank sparkling red. Cool and so lovely!

This is the oldest winery in the Adelaide Hills area and the history is displayed for all to see. The staff are lovely and passionate about the winery. The cordial was a big hit by many of us and the one with clover was worth a taste.

We stopped in last Friday on our way to The Day on the Green in the Barossa. The wine, cellar door and setting was really lovely. We want to go back to experience a more laid back afternoon tasting wine with one of the local platters. If you are in the area pop in it is totally worth you effort to do so.

This cellar door was recommended to us. It was a quiet Tuesday afternoon when we went. The lady who served us was friendly and genuine. We enjoyed the tasting experience and stayed on for an excellent platter of local goumet delights. Would highly recommend
