- Raserna dLeon, Spain1,109 contributionsLong beach of fine sand with all the necessary servicesAgia Marina beach is very wide and beautiful. It has fine sand, clean and relatively calm waters without too much depth in the areas close to the shore. Here you will find the necessary services on a beach, with the option of hammocks, bars, restaurants and souvenir and bathroom items stores very close by. The biggest inconvenience we suffered was the difficulty we found parking the car we went with, since the entire surrounding area was full of vehicles and it took us a long time to find a place to leave it. In any case, this beach was one of the best we were on in Crete, despite the fact that there are quite a few users in summer. It is a good beach option, with everything tourists need nearby.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 April 2024
- MarHaarlemmermeer28 contributionsWonderful beachWhat a wonderful beach!! Sandy and a very shallow sea. Ideal for families with young children. Really nice tavernas and sunbeds galore! I really was very pleasantly surprised! In April/May it can be a bit stormy!!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 May 2024
- HumphreysjunketsWelwyn Garden City, United Kingdom213 contributionsWarm sandy beach with lots of sun lounger choice.Clean beach with lots of sun loungers which can be used free of charge if you are a customer of a restaurant, hotel etc. otherwise a small charge from €6-10. Sandy beach with warm shallow water although waves can pick up in the wind. There does seem to periodically be lifeguards on bits of it but not the whole length. Toilets are in the restaurants and hotels so not sure if non customers can use them.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 June 2024
- Cupcake12013Gloucester, United Kingdom5 contributionsHead for Ammos & Ilios Beach Bar - best beach in Chania by farClean beach, sun beds well organised and in excellent condition. Beautiful clean water, no litter. Beach Bar Ammos & Ilios were by far the best. €10 for 2 beds and an umbrella with a free bottle of water. Frappe €4, 3, 330ml lager €5, smoothies €4.5. Range of soft and alcoholic drinks with snacks and meals, too. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, and you have the option to book beds in advance. Advisable to book Sundays and Beach becomes full quickly as local families come here too. Would highly recommend. Water sports are available a bit further along the beach. Lifeguard on dutyVisited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 June 2024
- Jane N19 contributionsGreat Sunsets 🌅This beach is a sandy/shingle beach which does have stones and rocks on the seabed. The rocks are like large slabs of stone in some places which can become very slippery particularly near Platanias end of beach. Further along the opposite direction towards Cabana Mare and RedHavana beach clubs, is where the beach is sandy and they are no stones or rocks on the seabed. It’s clear to see why it’s busier at some parts of the beach than others due to the sandy seabed areas. The waves can be quite high on some days, great to watch as it looks beautiful in the sunshine, but not allowed in the sea whilst red flag flying at lifeguard stations. We had about 5 red flag days in the whole two weeks. Overall, beach was nice and not too crowded and was very close and convenient to where we were staying.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 July 2024
- Eleni_17New York City, New York56 contributionsFind a beach club or you will be disappointed. Recommend: Ammos &Ilios for a good experience.Agia Marina is just ok unless you a beach club. We found Ammos & Ilios and had a wonderful time. Great music, food and drinks. Organized beach club is definitely the way to go here. Beach chairs come at a low cost which made it worth it.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 31 July 2024
- Love travelling18 contributionsBeach of Agia Marina ChaniaI recently visited the beach of Agia Marina in Chania. I have to say that it is ideal both for families since even when it is wave children can play in its very shallow waters, but also for young people since it has many modern beach bar with intense music, beautiful sun loungers, swimming pools etc. Also some have even small golf games, chess floor with giant pions and of course children's playgrounds to satisfy everyone. And finally the waters are warm and clear, which is hard with so many people there. Comfort wins 4 stars. One of the many water sports. Together with the music they make you a little dizzy...Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 August 2024
- GeneralsdotterStockholm, Sweden34 contributionsLovely!Lovely sandy beach. Nicer bottom "to the right" on the long narrow beach. Some differences in altitude at the shoreline, but you learn as you go. Sunbeds everywhere. Included if you eat lunch at the place where the sun loungers belong. During 2 weeks it was 🚩 on 4 occasions. You're not supposed to swim. Just go out to the ankles. Because of underwater currents and the power of the sea. Lifeguards are extremely alert. But lovely beach when it's quieter. Highly recommended!Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 August 2024
- CityGentEast Molesey, United Kingdom305 contributionsNice, clean beachA nice, clean beach which does get a bit busy at times. Has some pleasant, good value beach bars, which are often less busy than the beach and will allow you to use them as a base as long as you buy your drinks/lunch there. The water is crystal clear, the sea is shallow a long way out, and usually calm, although surfable waves are not uncommon. For a quieter beach, head west to Stalos beach.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 August 2024
- Daniela MVicenza, Italy22 contributionsTOURISMWe stayed at this beach 3 times in 2 weeks stay in Kissamos, very convenient and served everything, sea still beautiful but nothing to do with other beaches. Very touristy... but sometimes it takes that too. We always went to Elia beach for 10 euros for umbrella and sunbeds.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 August 2024

Lovely beach sand sunbeds range from 5 euro and up some places free beds as long as you spend in their bar. Water is crystal clear and lovely warm temperatures very rarely have large waves. Lovely view of the island which has goats on and more importantly a lovely breeze

Very nice beach, very sandy and clean. During our stay in September the water was quite calm but we did have a couple of days where it was very rough and we could not go in. The whole beach has lifeguards and if the red flag is showing they are very hot on stopping you going in the water.

This beach was a long strip of clean sand and clear water running the length of Agia Marina. You tend to go near to where you are staying but if you walk, either way, you’ll find a spot you like best as we did. Lots of bars and restaurants, lovely to spend a relaxing time at. Some beds cost 7 or 8 euros, for two, others are free if if you buy drinks from the bar behind, which are often delivered to you on the sand! The sea is lovely, safe and clean but beware of the fish biting if you stand still too long! Often, it’s windy too, so the waves can be strong.

I’m ok to pay if there is a service but not if it doesn’t exist…
60€ for 2 sets + more than 100€ of consommations and I nobody if I want to order, nobody when I’m finished with my food, …. No any service !
I have to go to the cash register to order, and I even have to clear my plates by myself!
Do you maybe want me to clean them too?!
And the worst?
When I complain to the manager, he answers me (sitting and cigarette in hand as since the beginning of our arrival) sorry I don't have enough staff... don't you think you should get up if that's the problem?
I will have other things to say but I will stop there so as not to make him cry.
A SCANDAL!

Relatively dirty beach, water with oil stains (sun cream), unclear. Plastic bottles and pieces of plastic that we recovered from the water. The sunbeds we sat on were offered to us free of charge at the beginning - against consumption, and becoming with payment at the end, in case we did not eat at the tavern that owned them. The problem was not the payment, but the unpleasant surprise. Payment requested in cash, not by card.

Very dirty beach especially in the afternoon that suddenly fills with bubbles (brown dirt). In addition to the water, attention to the sandy has a lot of rough pups. 10 to 20€ minimum consumption on the sun loungers. But the cafes, restaurants, taverns that are on the beach at a good level with good behaviors!

It is a nice beach, with lots of beach bars with sunbeds, most of them doesn't charge you if you buy something from the bar. The sea has, most of the part, waves. We have been about for times and every time were waves, the lifeguard doesn't let you in the water

We visited the restaurant the night they had a soul and jazz band playing and had a great evening.
The food was amazing, had a mixture of starters and then fish to share for the main, the catch of the day! Was delicious
We tried the recommended white wine to compliment the fish and a mixture of cocktails which were all great. The waiters even gave us free ice cream to end the meal.
The service was great, we had a mixture of waiters throughout the evening who were all very attentive and chatty.
The price was very reasonable to say to had lots of drink and food too which is a bonus!
The restaurant is just off the main road down a side street overlooking the beach.
If your in town it’s definitely worth a visit!
Thank you to all the team that work there, we had a great evening

Lovely beach. We had visited 3 in other parts of Crete before arriving at Agia Marina. We had planned to both enjoy this area but also explore 2 other areas. We enjoyed AM so much we just stayed with the convenient walk daily to the inviting sands, comfy sun beds, and delightful clear water and light surf. Would we return? Absolutely!!! The real question is why can’t we just stay…

A wonderful beach with life guards, toilets, showers, sun loungers with shades and an assortment of beach bars servicing food and drink and playing music. The beds have to be paid for with a minimum charge that is removed once you reach that amount in food or drink. Each bar has it's own fee. You can just use a towel and sit on the sand for free but it was 34 degrees when we were there, so needed the shade! The water was warm in June and the beach has a very gentle slope into the sea, you have to wade out quite far to get your feet off the ground. The beach was clean and on the day it was very windy, the red flags were put up to tell you it wasn't safe to swim.

Hi! We're here st the moment, great spot but the waves are so choppy we can't swim really. Any nearby coves? I love the sandy beach but had envisaged crystal clear calm water ! Thanks

Hi, we stayed near iguana beach which is about half way from Agia marina to chania. There is a local bus which runs passed these coves. There are 3 little coves here. Very lovely beaches, clear and calm water. (We stayed in June). We stayed on these beaches while we were there and loved them.
There is plenty of parking if you are driving and restaurants near by along with a beach bar.
Have a lovely time.

Grazie a chi risponderà!
