The tours we took with Chris Browder were the highlight of our stay on Easter Island. What does he not know about the Rapa Nui! Fascinating. Highly recommended.

We took the all day tour of the island. What a wonderful experience. James and his group was well organized and we saw all the main sights which was much more then what was offered on the ship's tour. We would definitely book with them again.

We had an amazing visit to Rapa Nui and the key was Easter Island Spirit Tours! We took the all-day intro tour and the hike along the north shore. James and his group are well-organized, very knowledgeable, and sensitive to the issues that tourism create for a small island nation. I highly recommend James' book and his tours!

IMHO, if you try to experience the island sites without a knowledgeable guide on well organized tours, you'll miss incredible insights into the Geography, Geology, History, Anthropology, Culture, and Politics that make it such a special and unique place. This is NOT just a place to drive around and see 'big heads'. We spent two full days with just such a guide--Peter from Easter Island Spirit. He was prompt, a wealth of knowledge, prepared for all our questions, flexible, and a great conversationalist on far ranging topics. I was having some knee pain so I also have to thank Peter for being sensitive to the times I had to walk a bit slowly or suggesting when to not climb any higher at a site. The tours are well organized so that at each site, the information is appropriate to the site and builds on what you've already discussed. Our first day, we visited Tahai (don't miss it at sunset), Anakena Beach (beautiful), Te Pito Kura (largest Moai ever erected), Rano Raraku (the Moai quarry) and Tongariki (don't miss the sunrise here). We had a good included lunch onsite at Rano Raraku. The second day, we first went to the Museum which happened to be across the street from our hotel; then to Vinapu to see the Ahu's stonework and female Moai; then the incredible volcanic crater of Rano Kau and Orongo, the ceremonial village of the Birman competition. We then had a very good lunch at restaurant on the Hanga Roa waterfront (not included) and we decided to deviate from the standard tour for the rest of the afternoon. With our agreement, we swung by Peter's house to pick up his partner and little daughter and headed out of town to the spectacle of the Haka Pei competition (just Google it). Most of the Island's population was there and it was a fun festival atmosphere with music and free food, but very few tourists. It was great to be part of such a fun and traditional event; and be there with a local family . We never would have ventured out there if we hadn't been with our Easter Island Spirit guide. Going to Rapa Nui? Book with Easter Island Spirit.
