This cemetery is located at a short walking distance from Tahai on the way to Hanga Roa. Certainly worth stopping en route to view some of the very unique tombstones which are adorned with motifs that combine Christian and Rapa Nui iconography. An easy downhill walk from Tahai on the way to Hanga Roa, this Rapa Nui cemetery is certainly worth a visit and respectful wander. With a beautiful sea view, this place embodies the symbiotic blend of both Christianity and Polynesian culture and religion. It is so interesting to see a mixture of both Rapa Nui and Christian symbols like a Moai holding a cross to imitation Rongo Rongo tablets. There are several historical Rapa Nui figures buried there. There is no problem wandering around the grave sites remembering of course to act in a respectful manner. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit there!…

This is an interesting cemetery that is worth a look. Very close to one of the Moai sites so easy to at least take a peek at it.
