Comfortable, clean, camping with private toilet tents, campfire chairs, deluxe top of the range self-contained one man, fully zipped, tent-style swags with thick mattresses, this experience comes close to glamping.
Meals are healthy, ample and delicious with unlimited access to second servings, catering for all dietary requirements.
Our treks are not strenuous and staff take the time to share the whole experience.

My husband and I just returned from our 5 day trek. We booked in 2019 but due to Covid we were unable to make the trek until now. We had the most fantastic trek! The owners Karen and Paul Ellis are amazing and have an excellent crew who go above and beyond to make sure your trip is safe and fun. The cook Shirley, made sure my meals were safe for me as I have a food allergy that needs epipens if I get anaphylaxis- I so appreciated her care and concern. The cameleers were wonderful- gentle, calm and respectful of the camels and friendly and helpful to the trekkers. I have loved camels all my life and this was the culmination of a dream for me. I thoroughly recommend this company to anyone wishing to experience an outback camel adventure!!!

I have always wanted to do a trek in the desert and then I found this company Camel Treks Australia - that also includes camels - one of my favourite animals. Whilst I chose not to ride, but to walk, just having these majestic beasts as part of the trek was enough.
Now I am not a camper!! and I knew this was going to test my boundaries but the scenery, the bird life and the painting classes were more than worth that test.
Karen and Paul and their team of Cameleers were amazing, so knowledgeable, friendly and supportive.
The food was just delicious & plentiful and sitting around the campfire at night was just the best.
This experience was just what I was wanting and fulfilled all my expectations.
Now I am not a camper!! and I knew this was going to test my boundaries but the scenery, the bird life and the painting classes were more than worth that test.
Karen and Paul and their team of Cameleers were amazing, so knowledgeable, friendly and supportive.

Fabulously unique experience. Karen, Paul and the crew do a fabulous job of looking after everyone whether two or four legged. We also had the honour of being present during the first camel birth of the season. Would recommend this trip to anyone.

The 9 day camel trek was everything and more than I’d hoped for. Travelling in the stunning country west of the Flinders Ranges, the location is unique and exhilarating. To travel through this beautiful, isolated and changing countryside, either walking besides the camels or riding them, was a unique experience, and I loved being immersed in the landscape.
Sleeping in a comfortable swag on the ground, the night sky revealed, gave me some of the best nights’ sleeps I’ve had for a long while, and the snacks and meals prepared at the campsites were generous, varied and delicious.
Owners Karen and Paul have a deep knowledge, passion and respect for the country and their camels, and have the support an experienced and capable crew. The dedication of the other cameleers – Sofie, Ben and Kev – and the back up camp crew – Arman, Marion and Jeff - ensured we had a seamless start and end to each day as well as a comfortable and safe ride.
Karen, Paul and the team responded quickly to any changing conditions and worked tirelessly to fulfil all guests’ needs and requests, keeping the welfare of not only us, but also the camels, front and centre.
Home now, but dreaming of the desert and the wide open spaces and looking to return before too long.

Great people ,the best camels in the world, magical scenery, all these add up to a camel trek to remember, no problem to small or to large to solve , staff who put themselves in service to their clients willingly and cheerfully , anything to give people the trip of a lifetime, and the upmost care given to both camels and people with no compromises to health or safety.

A fantastic experience in a remote desert environment, enjoying the vast open space, serene sunrises/sunsets/starry nights, camel interactions, meeting like-minded people/great daytime and campfire conversations, and slow pace. Good food, comfortable swags, and time to unwind. Staff very hard working from early morning until after dark.
Only slight negative was less interaction/minimal organisation for walkers, with main focus on camel riders; walking tour participants simply tagged along with the riding tour, had to wait around extended periods for camel preparation/rider loading and then were largely left to follow along beside or behind the camel strings with minimal staff interaction (as their attention was required for the camels/walkers needed to stay away from/on opposite side of camels to the cameleer staff). More staff time allocated to walkers intermittently through the days, to make them feel more included in the ‘tour’/provide more guidance and interaction would improve the walker experience.

Amazing experience trekking the outback riding happy, friendly camels led by knowledgeable, competent and friendly guides. Very well organised, epic scenery, and by the end of 4 nights it was like we'd all been friends for ages. I had heaps of laughs, enjoyed the physical challenges, including the nervousness of a Kiwi for Ozzie wildlife, and loved every bit of it!

My family and I recently were guests on a guided trek with Camel Treks Australia. Karen, Paul and their crew did a wonderful job of looking after us and we greatly enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers. We got to make new cammelid friends as we slowly travelled through the Flinders Ranges. A highly recommended experience.

My favourite part was the sharing of experiences with other travellers amongst the beauty of the Australian Outback on our journey from one campsite to the next and around the camp fires at night.The hospitality provided was well above expectation with sleeping comfort, awesome food and luggage support. To observe and be apart of the camel connection with people was so interesting and definitely worth the experience. It brought for me a sense of calm and refeshed my outlook on life overall.

The most wonderfully recharging, relaxing, and total getaway I have ever had. I longed to leave behind time/date/pings and tings and it delivered this and more. The 8 night trek was a great amount of time to fully absorb into the rhythm and stunning beauty of each sunrise and each sunset.
Words cannot explain the desert colours, and the way the colours can change over an evening.
There is also something super special about being able to see from horizon to horizon in every direction. Breathtaking

Hello Naomi, Many thanks for your enquiry with Camel Treks Australia. I believe that the food we serve on our private guest and school camps cannot be compared to any other outdoor company. We have a massive focus on fresh fruit and vegetables served with whole grains and legumes. Two key staff have attained their 'Food Safety Supervisor' certificates with a Nationally recognised training organisation. This means we are compliant and aware of using hygienic practises for food safety and participate in safe food handling practices. We do not trek with any perishable ingredients that cannot be keep stable in our large portable coolers. We also work with a fabulous transport company who delivers to us even when we are remote in outback south Australia. Hence every new group or guests and students we meet is experiencing a new supply of produce. Essentially we serve every seasonal fruit and vegetable with options such as rice, millet, quinoa, hot naan breads spiced by us heated in cast iron pans. All cooking is done over the fire or coals in cast iron cookware. You might like to read through our earlier testimonials as the food we serve is often mentioned as a positive and unexpected highlight. Salads with avocados are a daily must!
