Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A real gem of a place to “discover” whilst driving around the hinterland area between Maleny and Montville.
Driving to the Dam area is not difficult and when arriving there are bbq’s, covered eating areas and a few tracks to walk.
Only non-powered craft are allowed on the dam.
Also there is the Secrets Dining on the Deck restaurant and accommodation chalets, which at the time we were there was very busy.
Really enjoyed this deviation from our intended route.

Visited on Wednesday 3rd August. This was my first visit to Baroon Pocket Dam and what a great spot to have a walk around. Plenty of parking and picnic spots to enjoy with toilet facilities as well.

We were looking for a gas Bbq to cook our sausages and thought that the dam would have them in the picnic area. We arrived at the very pretty dam and could see the Bbq in the distance. But Murphy was tormenting us and the Bbq was out of order. We took a bit of a look around and then decided to head off.

Large reservoir considering the surrounding steep forests. Some picnic spots by the lake and you can go across the first wall for closer looks at the dam, including a circular walk near the table. There's an entrance to the great walk, allowing access to Obi Creek for some rock hopping, or up the mountain to some lookouts or to Kondalilla Falls 10km away.

Far removed from the bustle of other parks, rivers & dams ... Lake Baroon has space, good picnic amenities & a fair bit of serenity! The main picnic area is on the northern shoreline of the dam - which is adjacent, but fortunately can't be easily seen from the grassy slopes. There are picnic gazebos with BBQ's & also table & benches, plus plenty of grassy areas to spread out a picnic rug & enjoy the view.
Our strategy was to grab a pre-ordered Hamper from MALENY FOODS & stretch out on the grass. What a peaceful view ... and the hamper was real special. Fresh tasty beaut quality which I would thoroughly recommend.
The parking was close to full, which in busier times would be a problem.
The area sits under the hillside of Secrets on the Lake Restaurant, although the trees hide most of the building.
We are bound to return with the same game plan.

The public reserve at Baroon Pocket Dam has excellent picnic facilities, with bbqs, shade trees and walking paths. The lake is great for fishing and swimming
