Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Definitely worth trying the scones, they are delicious. I had the plain scones with fresh cream and jam. I thought they were great. I also had a chocolate thick shake which also was fantastic. The staff were really friendly and the service was nice and quick. You can sit inside, on the verandah or outside amongst the garden. Well worth a visit.

Have eaten here previously. Quick stop for morning tea including 'best scones' in Montville. Staff always friendly which is nice. On this occasion the tea was extremely weak, quite a large pot but very small quantity of tea leaves. Didn't matter how long we waited, it could only infuse so much. Sultana scones were nice although jam want the best and also small quantities. The cream, whilst ok, was not a good clotted cream which really make a great Devonshire tea.

All in all, quite disappointing but seriously, tea doesn't cost that much so an extra teaspoon or two would have been great for the pot. Felt like it was simply drinking hot water, milk and small amount of tea.

Lovely fresh baked scones with real cream on a sunny winter day trip to Montville, we had plain but they also had sultana or date scones on the Monday we were there.

Whilst shopping in Montville, we looked for a cool, quiet place to stop for lunch. Camphor Cottage fitted the bill. Shaded by giant trees, soft breezes what more could we ask .
Staff were friendly, lunch was scrumptious and even the lizards enjoyed our company. Without a doubt, we will return!

We passed this gift shop/cafe on the way into Montville Main Street from a car park at the back of the town (good parking too) and noticed the emphasis on great scones on the various billboards outside.
After the customary walk up one side and down the other side of the street we decided to try out the scones and soup and coffee. All were excellent, and hot ... always a bonus.
It was a quiet day and very relaxed.

This is a neat place to sit and relax with a cup of good quality tea (they do coffee too...) and enjoy the atmosphere. The staff are wonderful.

After a walk through the rain forest we called in to Montville for a coffee. parking is always a little difficult in this small well know town that is so popular for day trips or tourists. Found camphor cottage not overly busy but don't let that fool you. Could not resit the delicious looking cakes on display. Next visit will be the scones. Staff very friendly & the whole experience was a pleasant one. Good coffee / good cake & good service. will be back to do some photos to put up here.

We stopped here for lunch and were treated to a most sumptious pumpkin and ginger soup which was served with crusty bread.
