Twycross Zoo is renowned as a specialist primate zoo and has a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK's only group of bonobos. We have breeding groups of many endangered primate species so we often have babies and toddlers playing around in our orang utan and bonobo groups, and in many of our monkey groups. Set in more than 80-acres, we have around 900 animals of more than 160 species to see, including many native species in the Zoo's Nature Reserve. You can walk with our ring-tailed lemurs in their new walk-through enclosure; see our giant tortoises sunbathing in their new grass area and watch our penguins take their daily walk. Our keepers present regular talks and feeds where you can learn a bit more about some of our animals such as the chimpanzees, penguins and meerkats. Twycross Zoo's award winning Education Department offers a variety of discovery opportunities for many different types of groups and parties. The Zoo holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, all sessions are curriculum linked and all are designed to best engage all age groups.

First time visit this zoo, I would says we all enjoy the most of day with lots of animals to visit and plenty activities for children especially younger. I would recommend you all go there as my view it's much better than Chester zoo!

A great shame as I have not been for 20 years. The place is tired and in need of major refurbishment, even the animals seemed fed up. I appreciate that the staff do a good job looking after the animals but had had enough after...More

We attended this fantastic event on Saturday evening. It was fantastic to hear the conservationists talk about their projects & see the animals at this peaceful evening, ADULTS ONLY event. Maybe next time the keepers could do the talking about individual animals?

Really lovely zoo, not as big as first thought but still full of a large variety of animals. We were lucky enough to see the new baby Snow Leopards playing while we ate our lunch and getting to feed the Lorikeets was fun, even if...More

Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself. I was talking about purchasing the Giraffe encounter that you can buy for £75, where you get to feed them. I was considering buying it as a gift for my daughter but it is quite dear... More
