- sahaooonKasugai, Japan12,835 contributionsBohol's most popular beachesThe white sand beach and the restaurants and dive shops lining the narrow pavement create a nice atmosphere. It was a comfortable beach, not too flashy, not too plain, and visited by many locals. I got the impression that the number of Korean travelers and shops that were able to fly directly to Bohol was rapidly increasing.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 March 2024
- Margz J25 contributionsA bit surprisedIt looks like a little Boracay. Lots of restaurants & bars. Lots of massages offered and there are massages with a happy ending offered to the boys during the night😲. It's unbelievable, I mean It looked like a decent beach on photos but its not specially during the night. It's great for boys night out partying and drinking.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 May 2024
- gopalav196 contributionsBeautiful beach worth spending atI was there in Alona Vida Beach resort for business. It is a lively place and I was an odd man out as it is a beach front hotel with a nice restaurant at the front having a love band playing. Alona is a small stretch of beautiful beach with lots of restaurants and beach front activities. Scuba diving, snorkeling, para salining activities are starting from the beach so have lots of people soliciting services. Evenings are livelier with restaurants, bars, massage parlours, springing to life.Visited June 2024Travelled on businessWritten 29 June 2024
- G2KpaulyMelbourne, Australia3,599 contributionsUsed to be betterI was here 5 years ago and Alona was a cool place to go eat or drink. Nowadays when I was just there it's full of touts and also most restaurants are quite expensive. Also the Korean invasion is making Alona not a place I will want to come back to because everything is double prices of somewhere like Dumuagete like a massage and also over development going on. But one thing that will always be a highlight is the sunsets on the beach here which are always amazing. Also not the nicest beach to swim at.Visited October 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 October 2024
- Valentin1000Beaumont, California10 contributionsOverrun by boatsThis is my third year to visit Alona beach. I like it for the easy atmosphere, nice restaurants, bars, nice sand and opportunity to swim. In the past tour boats and scuba diving boats had mostly stayed to one end of the beach. Gradually they have taken over 80% of the access to the water. For people like me who like to swim in the ocean, and it is great because the Pacific is like glass when calm and crystal clear, they have left a small part that is very rocky at low tide and has the potential for unpleasant injuries. The beach is essentially mismanaged. It has been turned into a diving and tour joint with a strong smell from the boat fumes. It is unfortunate. With all the construction boom, soon it will be overrun by people as well.Visited January 2025Travelled soloWritten 5 January 2025
- kerry bLondon, United Kingdom8 contributionsAlona beach, PanglaoNice chilled vibes. Very rustic. Great for sunsets and fresh sea food. A little manic in the evening in my opinion for island life. Cash only island. Not much choice for supplies, I.e if you need sunglasses, sun cream, vapes, flip flops, or just some playing cards, you will have to look very hard to find.Visited January 2025Travelled with friendsWritten 7 January 2025
- pfefmeisterSan Francisco, California4,468 contributionsAverage BeachI wasn’t impressed by this stretch of beach. The restaurants and bars are fun, but the swimming not so much. A rather conservative shoreline with murky waters was not that attractive. And it’s short, not like you can walk for miles - maybe a half mile at best. The best part is in front of the Henann Resort, and that’s where all the people go.Visited January 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 January 2025

Large, soulless beach
Lots of tourists, music...
In the evening, it's crowded with restaurants on the beach 2 to 3 times more expensive than elsewhere in the Philippines
It's up to you whether you want to come back to Europe here or escape elsewhere in Bohol and really see this magnificent country?

We stayed for a few nights at Alona Beach in Bohol, and were somewhat disappointed with this area in general. It was far more touristy and tackier than we had expected and was often overcrowded and noisy. Luckily, we stayed at the Blue Ocean Hotel at the end of the beach which made all quite tolerable. After Alona Beach we took the ferry to Siquijor and had a much nicer stay at the Coco Grove Resort hotel there. We did take up an offer from the many guides pushing trips along the beach and spent the better part of one day with a combination guide and driver showing us around the island. The weather was not the best, but it is really the easiest and most convenient way to do a trip like this. I would probably avoid the larger group tours as the cost for the two of us for the whole day was probably less than $40 just by ourselves. Water activities are pushed on you everywhere, so there is a lot to choose from…but pick carefully.

Alona Beach is said to be the best in Bohol. I have to agree. Clean shoreline. Fine white sand. But now that the economy is opening up , many people are already seen peddling wares such as massage, island hopping, motor water activities. Even Henann has many people offering many items in its location.

Alona used to be nice. Now it’s horrible. Do yourself a favor and go to Cebu or almost anywhere else. This place is the worst of all beach experiences. Over-crowded, overpriced, the worst trike drivers in the world, and it’s getting worse.

Absolutely boring and crazy expensive! Lot's of restaurant but no nightlight, this place used to be cool years ago but now it's overcrowded, expensive, noisy and not worth the money paid for. Every body greed and always trying to rip you off, starting from the tricycle drivers. Also nothing to do after dinner, a few severely uncool bars only playing crap music and again very expressive. They think that this place has by magic turned into Montecarlo probably. Much better Moalboal at this point.

The area is overflowing with tourists. Everywhere you are approached by sellers and overpriced tours are offered. It is best to buy directly from the agency. There are a lot of Koreans here (Mallorca 2.0). Souvenirs and restaurants are more expensive than at the airport. Beach not suitable for swimming. There are more beautiful beaches in the Philippines.

Opposite Alona Beach, Manila is a health resort. Here, the entire town is filled with techno music. You won't find a restaurant where you can hear your own voice.
Nature is nowhere to be found here, actually everything is promised, but you still find gaps where more concrete blocks are being built without leaving any space... Conclusion: Terrible!

Travelling through Bohol lots but I do like time spent here in Alona.
Nice water to swim with plenty options for drink and food. Spent 3 days around here just relaxing and enjoying the space.
For sure with September + the tourist will arrive, Alona will become very busy and noisy with party times.
I prefer low season to better enjoy

We went looking for the best motorbike rental near Alona beach. “Alona tourist service” had the best online reviews so we were willing to pay some more for their services even though many others in the street had better prices. We took a Honda bike for 600p per 24 hours. Great bike. But the company has attached all license plates with tiewraps and during the driving ours must have fell off. We did not even touched the plate. Of course it did happen during our rental period. But we could have done nothing to prevent it from happening. Not a big problem: things happen. But when we came back with the bike, the guy in the store told us to wait. He tried to call his boss on several numbers for about 20 times without an answer. He decided to keep ALL of our deposite 500p (that is almost the same amount of a total 24hr rent including insurance). He told us that his boss would charge him the deposit if he would not take it from us, and that if he could reach his boss the amount of money we had to pay would be even higher then the deposit itself. All the bikes this company offers for rent have license plates with tiewraps. If one is not attached and falls off without you even knowing it; they will keep all of your money!! Beware it’s just an other shady way of taking money from the tourists..

I stayed in the Hennan Resort which is on the beach. The water is gorgeous and the sunsets are beautiful, but you can't walk along the beach let alone lie down without being hassled by tour, massage and trinket vendors. Worth a walk through and maybe a quick swim but I wouldn't plan to relax here.
