Nice ruin, easy to get to. One of few that is not on Rhine/Mosel. Has restaurant on site. Very nice and active church on site as well. Parking close.

Great place to go with family and friends! Inside a renovated room in the castle ruins, feels warm and welcoming. Food is excellent, star cook. Prices are moderate, but not what they could be with this offering. A must see and do if in this region! Reservations are needed! Wine list is excellent as well, as is to be expected... More

We stayed in a hotel close to Kastellaun & found this castle completely by chance. It is free & you can just walk in & enjoy the history. There is some explanations & a plan but all in German. As many other German castles it was destroyed by French. There is a nice café inside, decorated as in medieval times... More

Good for a hour of your free time to walk around. The guy that gives bowshootinglessons also has for the little ones brickplay. We enjoyed it!

There's lots to scramble over, to look at and consider the interpretation info which is excellent. It's free, basically, with a small charge for the museum within the walls. The blend of old and new (a good restaurant is quite new) is singularly un-stuffy, and when we visited there were archery activities for young and old. A pleasant way to... More

This was a trip down memory lane for my wife. She used to come to the ruins as a child and explore. This is a well preserved example of some great architecture. A must see if you are in the area.

We visited this place late in the evening when the restaurant and activities were closed. This place must have been very impressive once upon a time, but as far as the ruins are concerned they are not really worthwhile for me as an adult. I do however believe that this is a most excellent place to bring children to during... More

We had driven by the Burg Kastellaun several times on our way to other places and finally decided to stop and visit the site. We discovered a museum (at the time there was, among others, a very interestingan exhibit about fashion from celtic to roman times), a restaurant, the opportunity to partake in bow-shooting classes, and a beautiful view over...
