White sand, clean, blue water, easy access to water Great beds Cafe and bar within walking distance Wooden walkways to protect from red hot sand Adjacent to road with shops bars testaurants Good shower WC facilitiesVisited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 19 August 2024
- Grá ByrneCounty Kildare, Ireland239 contributionsHidden GemAn extension of this beach is Platja D'Albercutx which is located on the infamous Pine Walk, this thin stretch of beach is located towards the left (when facing the sea) away from the Port itself. The azure water is very welcoming and warm. It's a busy area yet the beach is not over crowded. There is plenty of shade under the many pine trees. It's relaxing and feels safe and carefree. Highly recommend spending time here to relax in the Sun and dip in the warm Balearic sea.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 9 September 2024

Port de Pollensa was our favourite place! This time will be our last time unfortunately.
We spent quite a lot of money for a pine walk apartment right next to the beautiful beach. But the majority of our stay all we can do is look at the sea. The beach has had red flags up for days due to severe pollution, sewage is being pumped into the sea!
Thousands of tourists spending thousands of pounds to come here, and nobody is allowed to enjoy the sea/beach.

Having spent a lot of time in Palma we were shocked that it was in the much quieter Puerto Pollensa that the zips on my husband's bag were undone!! Luckily nothing taken as he only had water in there! Lots of signs at the bus stops warning of pickpockets and other thefts

The city removed the rental option for chairs and umbrellas and did not renew the license for the wonderful little beach restaurant. So no chairs, no umbrellas and no snack on the beach. It really ruined our plans because we love to spent the day on the beach but need some shade during the day. I know …. old people 😞

Beautiful place and Hotel Hoposa in Puerto Pollenca is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were fantastic; the food very good; the hotel was immaculately clean. An important part of our holiday is being on the beach and swimming in the sea. Having spent a day swimming in the sea was horrified to be told by a local woman about the sea water. Looking it up in the local press it says sometimes the the sea has 10 times the WHO recommended safe level of E.coli. I asked the life guard and was told the water is tested by scientists and it is not good. A few days later we returned ( Gatwick chaos ) and again went to beach. It was a yellow flag. I asked if the water was safe and the lady said according to the last test result it was a yellow flag but that result was from two days previous and they keep the flag from the last result antil they receive a call from their manager telling the latest test result. The latest test result was late! She said she couldn't say if the flag should be red yellow or green for that day. We did not go swimming in the sea again. There are no signs warning people and very young children are playing in it. The authorities are risking people's health; it has apparently been like it for a few years. I have been going to Puerto Pollenca for 30 years before COVID and this was the first time since. Would go swimming at least twice a day in the sea but not this time. We located by accident one of the places where the sewerage runs into the sea from drains on Pine walk when a small truck came and pumped the drains and then we were horrified to see them lower the suction pipe down into the sand on the beach and pump out the same fowl smelling liquid as from the drains and it was black. Really ? The authorities in charge should hang their heads in shame.

Just a quick note to advisepeople travelling to Puerto Pollensa, you can no longer hire sunbeds and parasols on the beach. People are buying chairs, beds and parasols walking to and from the beach with them. Not fun when you are 70+ in the heat.

Beach closures again this year due to pollution in water
Life guards are ineffective taking long time to close the different sections of the beach
Tattered limp red flags may be misinterpreted

The beach is swept every morning and is generally impeccably clean, even though some of the low lives that visit the beach don't quite get the idea of how a bin works.
There's loads of space on the beach and even more out to sea. Great sailing, kayaking, SUP, kite surfing, windsurfing, sailing......you name it.
Sadly a few idiots on jetskis but they tend to be welll away from the beach.
I rarely spend much time on the beach, merely passing through for a swim or SUP or sailing.

Playa del Port de Pollença is a sand beach located in the homonymous town. We came here at the middle of June and it was very clean and quite, so it is a great place to come with children, who can play with the sand and bath in the sea without danger. Also, from the beach, you can see wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and a lot of boats. So, here it is an amazing place to bath, sunbath, relax, walk and see views for all family (from children to elder).

We have been coming to the area for about 15 years and our loveliest memories have been made on the beach. Arrived this week and found sun beds, parasols and walkways for disabled to get to sea removed.
Really disappointed bought a parasol and chair (45) parasol blew away and chair rubbish.
Puerto Pollensa fairly quiet and restaurants slow. Looked on line to find varying information but local trader told us that sunbeds and parasols would not be in place this season. So disappointing due to return September but will probably cancel and book elsewhere.

We stayed at Hotel I’lla d’Or at the end of the Pine walk. There are RED flags along the walk as raw sewage is going into the sea. I spoke to the life guard and asked him why the Red flag , he said because of all the Pooh !!
This is outrageous, disgusting 🤢 and I definitely will not be returning which is sad because it is a lovely location.
The authorities need to take action NOW.

Are there many places to eat during late March???
Written 9 October 2019
I would imagine so as it is also a popular location for cycling enthusiasts who are not that worried about the weather.

Hi, we're thinking about puerto pollenca in June with our 3 year old twins. We'd like to be in walking distance of the town and beach. Can anyone recommend any mid range hotels please? Thank you
Written 3 February 2019
An excellent place to go . Several bars/eateries with music and there are also others in the streets to the rear of the paved promenade areas by the beach offering quiet and peaceful meals. However quite a lot of evening establishments close fairly early 9.30 10.00 pm . .
Nice natural park to look round by the river worth walking round-has seats!
Good beach with sand

We were at the Pine Walk end of the beach a couple of days ago and at least 3 people near us got stung by jelly fish. Does anyone know if they are still about or have moved on? Thanks!
Written 26 August 2018
Hi, not sure if other people have replied to this.
Apparently there are more jelly fish due to the currents. I got stung twice but I must say the one on my arm was quite bad and unfortunately has left my skin scarred!! Be careful!!!

I’ve never seen jelly fish At Puerto Pollenca while we have been there.

Hi i'm coming with an 11 year old and an 8 year old.Are there hotels with pool tables or entertainment you can go into in the evening even though your not staying there? can you recommend anywhere to take the children in the evening?
Written 26 June 2017
I would recommend that you take your children to the town square every evening. They will meet plenty of other children their age who are locals and holidaymakers. Plenty of good restaurants and bars for mum and dad to have a drink also.
5 mts walk from the town square is Hotel Azul where there is entertainment put on for children every evening. I think it starts about 7.30 and is followed by adult/family entertainment. This is an excellent family hotel and there will be plenty of other children for your's to play with and make friends. Enjoy your holiday in the best resort in Majorca.
