Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sometimes I just close my eyes and try to imagine how it all looked in the time when particular building was build. So, the first time I went to this fortress I was really impressed by the view from its walls and amazing Blue Lake in its bottom. It dates from the 9th century and it’s a must see place.

Topana Fortress is situated just above Blue Lake (Modro Jezero) just outside of Imotski. Built in the 10 century, it was renamed Topana during the period of Ottoman occupation. The church of Our Lady of the angels within the fortress was built as a celebration of Imotski's liberation from the Turks. The views from the top of the fortress are extensive with views to the border with Bosnia. It is worth a visit, even if it is a distance from the coast. However, if visiting Međugorje in Bosnia, most buses go through Imotski or otherwise there is a bus service from Split. The layout of the fortress gives some idea as to the how the fortress appeared.

Count with 10 minutes walk one direction to reach the top. There is a small church near the fortress and you can walk up to it. Created in 10th century, rebuilt couple of times and now only ruins left. Nice view from above on the town and also the Blue lake. Worth the walk.

This place is amazing as location. Small fortress in top of the rock surrounded with football stadium in sinkhole from one side and deep amazing sinkhole filled with water on the other side. Second one is known as a Blue Lake. Ticket cost only 20 kn but we came in January and it was free of charge. Nobody was there and gates where opened. I don't know how it looks in summertime but they should invest bit more and make some better view point on the lake. Even we saved the money I think somebody should work and maintain cause stairs were icy and easy to slip amd hurt yourself. Somebody should move the ice like I did (but I did it by hiting the ice with the small rock). In other case close the gate cause it is potentially dangerous!

A short walk along from the Blue Lake this is a fairly interesting castle. There are some nice views from the top. You might as well visit at the same time as the lake.

These ruins were very fun to visit. It is nicely located on a hill on which you can look at the blue lake. You can walk from the blue lake walking trail all the way to the old fortress.
