About
Arid Recovery is a conservation reserve in outback South Australia. We protect endangered wildlife within a large cat, fox and rabbit free fenced area. We run sunset tours to the reserve 20km out of Roxby Downs for guests to encounter bilbies, bettongs and other rare animals in their native habitat.

A real must
Apr. 2019 • Family
A lovely outing, experiencing the wonderful still of the desert and fabulous sunset, spotting burrowing bettongs, a variety of tracks, plants and other critters. Our young children thoroughly enjoyed the tour, as did we.

A MUST FOR THE EVERYONE
Nov. 2018 • Couples
If your out this way a trip to the Arid Recovery centre is a must. You will learn about and see the great work a special bunch of people are doing to make sure our native animals don’t become extinct. We were lucky to be at the park the night baby quolls were being returned to mum, so we got an up close look at some. Tours go all year round and the Roxby Downs information centre will organise your visit with the Arid recovery team. On our visit we didn’t have to go far to have Bettongs running around our feet and spotting a spinefix hopping mouse 2 metres away. If you visit you WILL see native animals.

We were the first tour of the season and there was only 3 of us. Passionate guides. Got to stroke a wild bettong and a wild bandicoot.

Arid Recovery Sunset Tour
Jun. 2018 • Family
The experience of spotting Bettongs as we walked through the sand dunes was a highlight of the tour not to mention watching the sun set over the horizon and seeing the lights turn on at the Olympic Dam Mine. I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Roxby Downs.

I went out to Arid recovery for a sunset tour and from a platform watched a magnificent sunset. Later in the night had the opportunity to be in a hide and watch animals in their natural habitat at night. great experience.
