Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed on 9 December at Eland Cottage in the Cape Point section of Table Mountain National Park. The three bedroom cottage itself is good overnight accommodation. It was clean and well equipped. However it must have been staff housing previously situated at the workshop and technical area in the northern part of the Park next to old tractors and big stores. You have no view and it does not feel that you are in a National park. The outside area was neglected and the braai area was not clean. The braai grids were very dirty and not been cleaned for a long time. There is no nice place to sit outside and even no chairs. We had to take the dining room chairs outside to have proper seating. It is just not worth it to stay at Eland cottage if you are looking for an experience in nature and scenery. I was also surprised that desoite having an accommodation booking pre-paid and conservation fees as well that we still had to pay full entrance fees to enter the Park. We also stayed in the Karoo NP and Addo Elephant Park as well in December 2019 and did not have to pay entrance fees. Overall, the Eland Cottage will be a disappointment specifically for South African visitors wanting to spend time outside the cottage late afternoon/early evening. Compared to the Karoo National Park staff at the entrance gate and reception whom was so friendly and welcoming I cannot say the same about the staff at Cape Point.

We were really looking forwards to visiting Cape Point National Park. Wild, beautiful scenery and litter free it shows the beauty of our country.
Paying full price for SA citizens to come in we were shocked that neither the restaurant, snack bar or shop were open. After a one hour hike we couldn’t even buy a bottle of water.
I don’t know what has happened but this shows a massive deterioration in the level of service at our national parks. Staff are rude, everything closed up, graffiti not being cleaned up on the lighthouse all show a lack of pride in our National assets.
I have always recommended this as a key. Is it for anyone coming to the Cape. Now there is no way I would recommend it and frankly it is shocking how bad it has got.
Pull your socks up National Parks, you have really let the South African people down - you should be ashamed of yourselves.

We visited several years ago and enjoyed it so returned today but were horrified to find that it was going to cost 320 rand per person instead of 80 rand for South African nationals. Not the way to welcome or encourage tourism. At the end of the day it is just a lovely view - no more no less. Forget it!!

We had a wonderful time visiting the Cape Point section of Table Mountain National Park. Staying in the Eland Cottage for a couple of night allowed us to explore the park at time when there were fewer tourists around. The fynbos was beautiful in December and we have a special experience with tens of small sharks filling Buffelsbaai while we were on the beach. We were pleasantly surprised to otherwise have such a beautiful beach all to ourselves just before the peak summer holiday!

Our family visited here during our stay in Cape Town and it was very much worth our time. The vista is beautiful which makes for a gorgeous setting for photographic memories. Recommended. We enjoyed our time at Cape Point.

Have visited a few times before but I'm sad to see the condition of the light house and how the sign has been destroyed... Really doesn't bring back the memories I had from previous trips... The view is still amazing hence the 3 stars would of given it 5 stars back in the day.. But Def needs some work to being it back to the standard I remember

Breathtaking views and amazing scenery of the end of the world. The walk up to the lighthouse can be tough for elderly so for them I would recommend taking the funicular.

We would like to give a big shout of "Hats off to SANPARKS"! We are in awe of the work being done by SANPARKS. While most South African visitors and residents are well entitled to the (non) service delivery of multiple government departments, organs of the state and its enterprises - the work being done by SANPARKS needs to be singled out as one of the few working organs which are fantastic and exceptional. We spent a wonderful almost full day in the Park - and it was amazing. The standard of the roads inside the Park are in most instances better than the roads from Kokketjie via Misty Cliffs to the Park gates. We spent a wonderful day inside the Park and we travelled almost every road that exists. We stopped twice and picnicked. Saw several animal species - the highlight being two herds of Bontebok right near the road. Then also seeing two female ostriches right on the rocks of the beach foraging was special for us. We will most likely try and hire one of the cottages in the future. Well done SANPARKS and Thank You
