Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Zinacantan Church is a small white church with a colonial flavor. The interior was interesting and we found it richly decorated with flowers which are one of the main products of this village. Quiet atmosphere that contrasts with that of nearby San Juan Chamula which we had visited just before.

You are on the bus tour which takes you through Chamula and this town. You will only need 10 minutes to visit this nondescript church. Nothing special. Stretch your legs and move on.

It looks so simple from the outside and inside is something else. Worth seeing, what i didn't like are tourist flocking around praying locals. Be careful with taking pictures inside, it is not allowed!

You only need about 10 minutes to see this church. It's nothing special and actually has a tin roof.

We visited this church and the Church of St. Juan Bautista in San Juan Chamula in the same day.
Having been to Rome I feel a bit "churched-out" but they are totally different from any churches I've ever been to. The Spanish tried to incorporate the mountains in the churches to introduce Catholicism to Mexico so they are bring the outside in to the church. The end result is beautiful and unique.
They don't have formal ceremonies or mass necessarily but there were groups of locals performing their own rituals and ceremonies in pockets throughout the church.

The town looks deserted, the church looks plain and simple from the outside, but it is richly decorated with flowers inside, in this town they have lots of flower conservatories, and the indigenas decorate this church with fresh flower arrangements regularly. There is a tour called pueblos magicos that you can take from San Cristobal de las Casas. it is worth it only if you have extra time when visiting. The trip from San Cristobal to Zinacantan takes about 20-30 minutes.

The church is interesting as there's mixture of christian and mayan religion. It's also clean. But the square where the church is, is full of garbage. It's the main square of the town of Zinacantan, where the town hall is...
