Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just a 10-minute drive from Cam Ranh Airport, Bãi Dài Cam Ranh boasts what I consider the best beach in Vietnam. Bãi Dài Cam Ranh rivals destinations like Cancun and Boracay. The sand, though slightly yellower than that of Cancun and Boracay, is a testament to the beach’s beauty.

For any of you lookin to save a few bucks getting to Bai Dai, there is now a PUBLIC BUS (Route 18) that leaves from town and stops at Bai Dai. This bus drops you off just across the highway from the path down to "the shack" (north end of bai dai). The cost is 30,000 vnd each way and the bus is new and very comfortable. You will see yellow bus stop signs (the bus is yellow too with the stop locations painted on the sides) at the sides of the road around town, the stop for bai dai is clearly printed on the bus and the signs for route #18. We got on at the bus stop right across from the Merpearl hotel (center of backpacker area) and got off at the Bai Dai stop ( just tell the ticket taker you want to go to bai dai and they will tell you when you are there). To come back just stand at the stop at the other side of the highway (again a yellow sigh with the route 18 on it and all the stops listed, there is really no bus stop currently just a sign at the side of the highway) and they come by about every 30 min. Many taxis (and locals) will stop and try to give you a ride and tell you there is no bus, but be patient and it WILL come. In town it says the bus runs till 7:30pm but on the highway sign it says 9:30 (we rode at 6pm). I really wanted to post this because apparently these bus stops are VERY NEW and have been added to the route of the public airport transfer bus. The very nice staff at LA SUISSE HOTEL told us about this cheap option but EVERYONE else we asked (including the staff at The Shack) told us there was no such bus, but IT DOES EXIST. It was also a very clean, comfortable, and efficient ride so I highly recommend. So save yourself some Dongs and take the bus to Long Beach, you won't regret it as it is a must see stop in Nha Trang! Hope this helps, CHEERS!

Although Nha Trang have it's own beaches, if you want to escape from the city, go to Bai Dai Beach... This very very long beach is a refuge from the busy beaches on the city... There you can find some places to eat and have fun renting body board or surf board... It takes about 30 minutes by car from Nah Trang or about 45 minutes if you rent a motorbike. Look for THE SHACK... It's run by a foreigner and have very good food.

The beach was not only dirty but was dangerous too with sharp rubbish like glass sticking out the sand. Hardly peaceful nor picturesque. The only clean areas are private and you are unable to hire beds. Unless you want to make self a DIY rubbish subbed DO NOT GO.

There was litter all across the shore of the beach and quite a lot in the sea too, which made the whole place fairly unpleasant. Also, the “shack” is really big and quite ugly. I spent a while deciding whether or not to go because I had read mixed reviews, and I can now say that in my opinion it’s not a beach worth visiting.

We rented a motorbike to escape the crowds of tourists on Nha Trang Beach and have a nice and calm day at Bai Dai Beach. The drive there from Nha Trang on the coastal road was very beautiful and scenic, probably the best part of it! When we arrived, there were also loads of chinese tourists, which arrived in huge buses, but that was not the problem. The beach in front of the beach shacks were clean, but also crowded and not very relaxing. So we walked a bit further from the shacks and wondered why the water was getting so dirty and saw that right next to shacks they pour all of there dirty sewage into the sea through a pipe. The water looked filthy, I think no one wants to swim there. And the beach is dirty with plastic and lots and lots of rubbish. It‘s just sad, because it could be a paradise beach in this wonderful scenery, but what has happened there is sadly not enjoyable anymore.

Incredibly, the long stretch of white sands & blue turquoise waters of Bai Dai beach are virtually empty for 25 kms on weekdays. Just think about it…. an ocean-face beach with white sand with hardly anyone in sight.

The busy tourist hub area & crowded City beach at Nha Trang has a lively promenade & is the beach experience many locals & tourists want, that is-to drink beer, eat crab & harass women. Bai Dai beach is completely the opposite, it’s out of town in quiet Cam Ranh where there are no massage parlours, smelly hookers or bars blasting hip-hop music full of backpackers. Cam Ranh has nothing for a tourist in terms of restaurants or sights & Asian girls are horrified at the thought of tanning their skin darker, so you won’t find many fine-looking Vietnamese ladies lying on the beach waiting for strong men to take them to America. What it lacks for foreign tourists Bai Dai beach makes up for in total peace & quite.

Although Nha Trang’s city beach has distant islands dotting the horizon like a pretty daydream, I find myself always thinking back about the long beach at Cam Ranh, it’s one of those beaches that stretch so far into the distance it feels like a mid-afternoon hallucination. Starting in 2018 construction will begin on 39 resorts being built on Bai Dai beach’s shores, things will never be the same around here ever again.

It was easy to hire a $10 USD scooter from our hotel, we packed a hearty picnic with junk from the convenience store & cranked up the iPhone speakers to max. To get to Bai Dai Beach from downtown Nha Trang just take the coastal route on Nguyen Tat Thanh road (DT 6571) towards the airport at Cam Ranh (Son Bay Cam Ranh) approx. 30 kms away. Just off Nguyen Tat Thanh road, we took the beach access road closest to the airport so we could sun bake & watch the planes take-off & land close-by. On weekdays the beach was virtually empty & no parking fee was being collected.

Avoid the mega resorts going up and visit the shack just below the park at the northern most point on the beach.

Rent surfboards, go diving and enjoy the beach in peace. Chances are this part of the beach won't last long with the development around so check it out for a feeling of what Bai Dai has been like for years.

Things could be nicer here. Better restaurants. Fewer people trying to sell better tours, beers, fish dishes. That is what we thought about this best place. It was ok.
