I met a friend's Facebook friend in Goteborg and she drove us to Marstrand for the day. A short ferry ride, less than two-minutes, took us to the Island, where we strolled the waterfront first, then walked a bit inland. After lunch we hiked to...More

What a wonderful place. It’s got pretty much everything you could ask for. Ferry trip over, harbour with boats, little shops, pretty houses, cobbled streets, a castle with stunning views and great restaurants for food. A must see if you are close!

This was a great day trip from Gothenburg. The bus takes about an hour and stops at the ferry terminal. Take the ferry across to the island. I recommend walking around the island first. There were plenty of places to stop for a picnic. Loads...More

Mars trans is my favorite town in Sweden. It has a fishing village kinda feeling and boasts a very beautiful landscape that varies between the blue sea, nice rock formations and the colorful building lined on the shore. You need to take the ferry to...More

One of the beautiful wonders of the Swedish west coast. Marstrand is worth the trip but be aware of the parking challenge near the fairy because it can take a while to get a spot.

We were astounded by this island. The nice old buildings all around us all the time, the restaurants, walking paths and the fortress. Will come back.

The idyllic island of Marstrand is only 45 min drive from Gothenburg and is perfect for a day, weekend or week in the wonderful west coast archipelago. The island does not have any cars and you need to take a short ferry to get there....More

We went here to visit the island, both the village and a walk around the island itself. The village is very nice with it's buildings and good food. Walking around the island on a warm sunny day requires you to bring some water with you...More

A short ferry (< 2minutes) ride gets you there. Shops, views, and a fortress! Be sure you visit the fortress. Which we had more time to just sit and people watch.
