Short levada with long tunnel

Short 8km (return) levada with long tunnel at the end - 1km. You will need light, sometimes slippery, nice views, no people, recommended!

Amazing levada hike! With the description of the other reviewers it wasn't hard to find. There are 3 tunnels, the third tunnel took us about 20 minutes. But it was worth it! After the third tunnel you get the source of the levada. I would recommend this to everyone

We found a review about this walk on Tripadvisor, as we had just visited the Sao Vicente Caves. WoW so glad we done it! Finding the place is not the easiest as one other reviewer has stated, its not near the map as Tripadvisor has stated, follow the electric pylons up the mountain zig zagging until you come across a... Based on the reviews here on Tripadvisor, we decided to try out this levada instead of going where the crowds are. And we never regretted it. Beautiful landscape, great views and a couple of tunnels as a bonus (please make sure you have a torch with you and a waterproof clothing). Be aware that the mobile network connection will stop... This levada is difficult to find and not even close to the Trip Advisor map! All we can suggest is that you follow an uphill road towards a view point or keep to the line of electricity pylons (zig zag style up the hill). Once there a sign points 200metres to the lavada. It has the lot: cliffs, waterfalls, views... More

We must admit we did not expect what this walk entailed! It was amazing!! Not too long but there was something to always look at. It started off very beautiful and got even better - the view of Sao Vicente, walking through a waterfall and braving the extremely long tunnel! We felt very accomplished by the end. A torch per... Very nice easy walk, exept for the tunnels. Make sure you bring a strong flashlight per person! The views are amazing, and the smell of the eaucalyptus- and laurelwood is so relaxing.

Amazing views, felt like we were in a South American jungle. Vertigo does not bother me but I must admit that the length of the second tunnel freaked me out. If it was not for my husbands powerful cycling light, I would not have liked the tunnel at all. You get wet even in waterproofs but that is part of... More

This is a easy, flat walk (though has some slippery parts) which only takes half a day to do it. It has lovely views into the valley with steep sheer cliffs next to the path, but at least it's wide enough to keep back. It has some pretty waterfalls along the way and bird life flying around, we saw several... More

it was quite easy to find this levada and it's easy to walk there,as it almost in one level without ups-down parts. All the way along it you fel the smell of evcaliptus trees, some of them in bloom. Also few types of Lurissilva trees you can met there. we reach a tunnel, which was very narrow and move back,as pictures around were mostly...
