    Quickest way between islands
    1. Check wind speed, before booking speed boat. It can be very bumpy and many people get sea sick on windy days. Take ferry instead. 2. Use noise canceling headphones during the trip. If above rules to be followed, it is perfectly fine to take speedboat with small kids. Definitely fastest way between Thailand islands.

    Half Way Live Jackets
These ones gave us a boat equipped with live jackets and individual seats when heading to the island. BUT, on the way back, we didn't get the same boat. It was a different one without a live jacket and with benches for seats. The "captain" on the way back was riding that boat to hell. He was also in a mood because he kept knocking on his window to remind a tourist that they would fall off the boat if they went up the deck. We arrived safely, but I feared for all our lives throughout the ride back.

Phi Phi to Koh Lanta speedboat
Used this company to take the speedboat from Phi Phi to Koh Lanta. Booked in advance on 12Go. Check in at Tonsai Pier was smooth and we were able to leave our luggage there. Journey was largely smooth, most chaotic part was departing from Phi Phi with nobody giving any clear instructions. You also had to move your own luggage from the check in stand to the boat

We booked to go to Langkawi from Ko Lanta through our hotel, at a price of 2350 baht. At the time we were unaware of just how bad this journey would be.

I had read several poor reviews beforehand and thought that people were exaggerating, but after completing the journey myself I realised they definitely weren't.

Firstly we were told that we were getting picked up at our reception at 9am. The van did not arrive until 9:40am and on the journey to the pier made several unnecessary and unexplained stops. The boat was then due to leave at 10:30 am, however it did not leave until after 11am.

The 3 hours on the speed boat to Koh Lipe was the worst part of it all. It was the most terrifying, uncomfortable and unprofessional journey I had during 4 weeks in Thailand. The whole time it felt like the boat was going to tip over or be smashed to pieces by a wave, as all passengers were thrown around in their seats.

The driver was going full throttle through waves and continuously steering left and right, causing the boat to repeatadly lift into the air and smash into the oncoming waves. I am unsure whether this horrible ordeal was down to driver incompetence or poor weather conditions- even though we did this journey on a sunny day with little wind. At some points I was unsure if we would actually make it to shore.

Fortunately the journey from Koh lipe to Langkawi was on a much bigger ferry.

For anyone who gets sea sick or is nervous on boats this will be your worst nightmare. I highly recommend you pay extra for a more professional company or endure a slightly longer, but safer journey.

Wish there was a 0 star available, not deserving of even half a star!
Ferry was supposed to leave from kohlipe jetty by 11am and arrive at langkawi by 1230pm but the damn crew took their time irrespective of other passengers' to only depart at 11.30am and arrive at langkawi port by 2.10pm! Further to this, without a proper baggage system expected passengers to clamber over themselves to take their luggage admist screaming kids and crying babies. What chaos!
As a result we missed our 3.15pm flight back to kl (duh) and had to pay more than 2x our return trip, amazing logic.
Am demanding some form of refund for their mess up!

They do NOT take you to Saladarn Pier at Koh Lanta, but stop before town. Surprise, surprise, the only taxis here are their own - the drivers holding pieces of paper to show you the 'official' prices. It's a total scam. They charge 200 baht per person to Klong Khong beach, cramming 13 people in to a single truck,so making 2600 baht per journey. The normal price is only 300 baht for a tuktuk for upto 3 people!

We refused, and paid 100 baht per person. Suggest you do the same, or make the short walk to the main road and stop one there.

The boat ride itself was fine. There was not enough room for passengers AND lifejackets, so life jackets were moved and would have been inaccessible if needed. Grab one, and tuck it under your seat.

The boat captain smoked cigarettes despite the non-smoking signs. Pretty disgusting on an enclosed boat.

Shame on you, Bundhaya.

We used Bundhaya in January from Hat Yai Airport to Koh Lipe and back. I did have to email them to check where to meet our van pick up at the airport but they replied promptly and we had no issues once we arrived. All the seats in the minivan were taken up with a couple of suitcases in the aisle. For the boat we were given numbers so that the first people that arrived were allowed to enter the boat first. We were able to watch our luggage be loaded onto the boat. We were fortunate our boat was not full so the two of us were able to sit on a seat that would usually seat three. On the way to Koh Lipe we made two stops - two islands where you're allowed to hop off and walk around for 15 minutes. The boat ride was bumpy but we had no one throwing up and most people ended up snoozing. Arriving at Koh Lipe there was a floating barge so you don't have to get your feet wet at all and you wait on the beach for the staff to carry your luggage onto the beach. The return trip was similar except that we only stopped at one island.

We ride both ways for 5 hours on the speedboat from Phuket to ko Lipe. The first trip was very choppy and the Captain was absolutely excellent at navigating the waves. I think when people complain about the ride ..they don’t realize that the skipper is awesome but the waters can be choppy on certain days. We are in our 60s and this crew was amazing helping us on and off the boat etc we highly recommend this company just on the expertise of the captain alone.

One way, 09.00, Koh Lipe to Koh Lanta. This journey can be direct with Bundhaya or indirect with other operators, a slower trip dropping off and picking up people in Muk, Kradan, Ngai etc. Our direct boat set off on time and took 2hr 45min arriving early.
Check in at the Bundhaya beachside office was quite simple. A single desk for all destinations. A luggage tag for your bag, a sticker for your shirt and a boarding pass to get on the right boat, all colour coordinated for your destination. Wait on the beach, in shade at that time of day, and out comes a staff member. She shouts the destination, holds up the colour card for that particular destination and you board in order of check in. All actually well organised.
Free seating on board, arrive at Koh Lanta. Baggage for yellow tags placed inside the pier for Lanta passengers, red for onward destinations to be collected and wait for an hour to reboard for Phi Phi and Phuket. Would use them again without hesitation.

Please make sure that the captain is fit to drive a speedboat before departure!!!

The trip from Koh Mook to Koh Lipe was outright dangerous. First the captain made the rope boy drive the boat, while he slept on a bench. The rope boy steered the boat 180 degrees in the wrong direction for 10-15 minutes before the captain took over again. The captain himself fell asleep multiple times behind the wheel and he was dozing off and not paying attention a lot of the time! Other passengers kept waking him up so we wouldn't collide with other boats or rocks. It was really dangerous. Other passengers claimed they saw the captain smoking a fat joint right before departure ...

We took the 11:00 speedboat on the 4th of march from Koh Mook to Koh Lipe.

Our boat literally didn’t bother to collect us despite us checking in half an hour earlier than departure, as instructed. Nothing turned up and we were told the reason was the captain had “checked the onboard passengers for their tickets, and didn’t see any for our pier” (Koh Mook) so he just didn’t bother coming - without thinking to check for any bookings on his manifesto for the people he was supposed to pick up! We were told we had to wait for the next boat. Then we were told the next boat we had waited for and been promised would take us direct to Lipe now wasn’t going to come either, it had decided to go past. Then we were told now we had to go for lunch, and just accept losing hours of our day, before being put on a boat in another two hour’s time. They would pay for lunch, but only at one specific place. So we’ve spent the entire day waiting at a pier and being dragged around the island in a grand cluster f***, being lied to by smiles that all have joints burning down in their corner.

Laughably, this is the best rated of the speedboat companies and why we booked with them. We’re now double booking every trip with different companies to try and make sure at least one arrives near departure time… we have a flight to catch next. Pray for us…

To Manny people on the boat! Not even seats to everyyone. It is quiet expansive to go to koh lipe from koh lanta, you should at least get a seat for your own. And no!!! You can not sit three people on each seat unless you are a very small person…
