Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful place, the right reward after a beautiful walk that takes you from the village to the castle seeing breathtaking views. The prize, however, is Giovanni who arrived at the castle makes you immerse yourself in a world out of time telling you with enthusiasm and passion a wonderful place. Thank you so much Ivan and Anna

A climb that slowly takes you to an unforgettable place. Giuseppe, a trained guide who conveys his love for this place and tells you his story, but the view you can enjoy from up there is unique! A wonder to savor... with your eyes and your heart!

The castle is really very nice and well maintained. The friendly and very knowledgeable Guide is able to convey the values of the site and the island in general. The rostrum of the Roman ship and the stone anchor are capable of enchantment, as well as the spectacular view.
You can also access the pits (former prisons).
Arriving by boat at the castle beach, you reach the monument with an uphill walk of 10/15 minutes (I hate to walk but I assure you that it can be done). I even climbed in slippers because the path consists of paved.
Along the way you can capture the beach and the cove.

Mid-range trekking route. Only the last downhill section is steep and you have to be very careful. There are no springs or even refreshment points. The walk takes 1 hour and a half going very slowly. Breathtaking panorama. During the summer it is very hot, bring plenty of water. At the end you will cool off in a crystal clear sea full of fish in Cala Maestro. If you do not want to walk back there are many taxi boats that pass and offer transport for 10 euros.

We arrived by sea and with fairly easy access from the rocks we began the journey of a few hundred meters and arrived at the castle. We were welcomed by a passionate and very knowledgeable guide, Mr. Giovanni, who guided us on a very interesting visit. The recently renovated castle is very beautiful. Highly recommended visit.

After an intense and satisfying walk, immersed in the colors of the sea and the mountains, and with breathtaking views overlooking the cliffs of Marettimo, you reach the Punta Troia Castle.
Welcoming is Mr. Giovanni, a passionate and highly trained guide who traces the entire history of the castle and Marettimo from the Romans to the present day, with competence and friendliness. From the cells of prisoners like Guglielmo Pepe, to the unique finds of the Punic wars, to the marine creatures of the Mediterranean, it ends on the "most beautiful terrace in the Mediterranean" (on the clearest days you can observe not only Levanzo, Favignana and the Trapani area but also the Tunisian coasts ).
An absolutely unique and exhaustive experience, a highly recommended stop!

P.S. Bring water!

Wonderful views from the castle which has undergone recent, sensitive restoration. Well worth the walk up. The guide Giovanni is available for a guided tour and is extremely knowledgeable. One of the highlights of our trip to Marettimo!!

The castle is located outside the town within walking distance with a dirt path in about 1.5 hours. We were lucky enough to find an excellent Guide, Giovanni, who is there made him visit and spoke enthusiastically about his story. Passion in things always makes a difference. To visit without any doubt

With a group of friends we did the Marettimo trek. We reached this magnificent place with a beautiful walk, a priceless view and visited the castle with the cisterns now open to the public. A big applause to the guide Giovanni who explained the history of the place to us with passion and precision. Highly recommended!!!

A lovely place. A structure that testifies to the History of Sicily. Giovanni, the Guide, showed me the ancient prisons and the rostrum of the First Punic War.
Recommendation to book taxi service to cala maestro and between a bath and another in that crystal clear water go up to the castle.
