This is a beautiful walk. Bit steep in places but not too difficult. I've walked the camino, and this is much easier and very scenic. The Kumano Travel people who take the bookings were incredibly helpful. We stayed one night in the Happiness cottage in...More

Having done the Inca Trail some years ago and being inspired by it's beauty I am now pleased to be doing a few days walking in this beautiful place. A must for any avid walker!!!

The routes were clearly marked and definitely worth the trek. Some parts can get a bit slippery or tricky due to the stones, roots and the fact that it does rain a lot in the area but the sceneries are gorgeous. Near most shrines you...More

We hiked the Nakahechi trail between Takijiri and Nachi in August - terrible heat (90-100 F) but so beautiful. Do not miss Nachi - it is the culmination of the entire trek.

I walked part of the Kumano with two teenagers. It was a wonderful experience even in the pouring rain. There were hardly any people around which made it so peaceful. Highly recommend

This is a gorgeous hike, not too difficult. Along the way are a number of shrines and explanatory signs in English. Well-marked and interesting.

The paths I hiked on were broad enough that being scratched by plants would not be an issue.

Shipping luggage is very easy if booked in advance through the Tanabe Kumano Kodo travel agency tb-kumano. We did and it was a breeze! It’s expensive (about $20/bag) but so very worth it.
