Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The end of the walking street in Yufuin is the kirin lake. The lake is quite small, but has many angles for photo taking.
So, Just walk and eat enjoying the Yufu mountain.

The mist over the lake gave the whole area a mysterious feel and in the early morning, there are not many people around which leaves you plenty of time and space to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the environment.
Another perk about waking early is the relatively empty streets and you can snap pictures easily. The streets were covered in mist as well and do bring a light jacket or cardigan as the mornings do get cold, even during summer.
The mist disappeared by 7.30am when I visited in summer so please plan to reach the lake before that.

It is a small lake with different great views. Visit there before sunrise and sunset time.
Before dawn, you will see the foggy and beautiful picture because the hotspring water and cold water meet together and create the fog. It is just like a dream.
At sunset, you will understand why it is called 'golden scales lake'. The lake reflects the sunshine and create the golden scales.
Enjoy!
If you go there in autumn, there will be full of red leaves.

There's is nothing to look forward to...just a tiny ugly pond with lots of Korean and Chinese tourists. Any unknown pond in Kyoto beats this.
Unless you come early by 7am to catch the mist rising from the pond, there is absolutely nothing to get excited about.

The morning mist in Yufuin / Lake Kinrin gives a sense of calm and peace to the whole area. A stroll in this town is very relaxing and enjoyable. There are some local ramen restaurants and ensure not to miss out on local desserts.

Kinrin Lake or Kinrinko is must visit place for travellers making a stopover at Yufuin. It is such a beautiful lake with a serene vibe. As it has both hot and cold springs welling up from its bottom so, visiting it in the morning is a plus. Try wandering along walking paths around the lake. They offer great views of the nature. If you can walk a little further, you may find a small shrine located at the lake’s southern end very interesting. There are several cafes and shops where you can also just sit, enjoy your meals/ drinks and soak up the sun. You can walk from a Floral Village to this place.

Go there early in the morning at sunrise, to see the mist. That give you a sense of tranquility and peace.

If you are in the Yufuin area and you are strolling around the interesting shops in the main street, you will probably visit this place. I guess your impression of the place depends on the lakes you compare it with. I come from California and have visited many other places like Switzerland, so if you are comparing this place with Lake Tahoe like I am, then it pales by comparison. The water is dirty, as are the unimpressive-looking surroundings. However, I still see many people taking pictures at the lake despite my mediocre impression, so for travelers who don't get to see many lakes (or many clean lakes with great views), this may not be too bad of a place to see.
