Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We reached Yufuin by bus coming from Tenjin. Because it was a long bus ride, we had our lunch first at the first restaurant we came into. The place was full. I had, so far, the best unagi kabayaki I've tried. Before reaching Lake Kinrin, you have to pass through the flower village. it was the biggest village i've walked through, so far. there were many tourists, many various stores to visit, from those selling street food, ramen, red bean buns, souvenirs, etc. There was even one shop offering computerized palm reading. Although the walk was long, you wont get tired. there were also vending machines for water breaks.
the view of Lake Kinrin was breathtaking. the air was a bit cooler near the lake. There were also gardens around the lake to take pictures or just admire the view. there were also different trails to take depending on where you want to go. there are signs around so you won't get lost.
we reached the bus station on time for our next destination, Beppu .

The lake was near the Yufuin Floral Village and you could take a stroll around the lake enjoying the scenery and autumn foliage. Unfortunately there were large crowds even on a weekday which affects the tranquility of the place. Advisable to come early or stay overnight at the various pensions around the lake to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

I took a taxi to get there, but on the way back I walked leisurely.
I thought there were a lot of foreign tourists, but the driver told me that about 70% were Korean. I was surprised! It was my first time in Yufuin and I had an image of it being quiet and laid-back, but it was completely different.
The lake was pretty normal. There were a lot of tourists, so it was a bit ↓↓↓. Ah, but I was a tourist too❗️lol. As I was walking, I saw the famous Kamenoi Besso. It was as expected. I looked at many shops, bought some snacks, and had fun returning to the station.
Yufuin is booming with inbound demand. The Korean power is amazing. I might go again when it's quieter.

The photos I saw online were all very beautiful. When I arrived, it was just a small lake and the scenery was average. The pedestrian path was a dirt road, which was not very pedestrian. There were many tourists and you could leave after a short stay.

The lake was not as big as I thought. I thought it was hot spring water, but there were a lot of fish there. The size is also big. If you go to Yufuin, it would be nice to visit at least once. It's really nice for a walk.

We started early driving from Beppu to Yufuin as we wanted to catch the mist (actually steam as the water is hotspring water reacting with the cold air).
Winding through the mountain roads and just as you start the descend is a scenic look out on the left after a long right bend looking over Yufuin. It was under renovation but we asked politely if we could quickly just take some pictures and was allowed to. The view from this look out is spectacular with the mist overhanging Yufuin.
We arrived at the lake 8am, about 5-7 min after the lookout and there was still heavy mist. It gave the place a magical atmosphere. In the lake are many large carp, 2 friendly resident (?) goose/geese, and because it was autumn, several very nice fall color trees.
Within 10 min the steam had started to dissipate as the air began warming up.
We had English tea and very nice pastries/cakes at the lakeside café, just enjoying the morning autumn vista of the lake.
Without the morning steam however it is just a small picturesque lake, nothing special. So the best time to visit is early morning mid autumn with the mist and the fall colors.
A must visit in Yufuin in autumn.

A small lake so, easy to walk around it. A magical place for photos and for a light stroll. Picturesque from every angle.

Nice serene lake, recommended to visit in the morning around sunrise timing. Parking is around JPY200 per hour at the carparks around the lake.

Located at the top end of the popular tourist street in Yufu. If you are driving, there are a few parking lots both with attendant and self-serviced a few minutes walk before arriving. We arrived late morning and there were not many tourists. A small nice lake with calm water to spend half an hour if you are in the area. Take a cup of coffee or if arrive early, even breakfast at one of the many cafes beside the lake or along the way. Nothing much and you won't miss a lot if you are in a hurry.

We went there on a rainy day and found this small lake nothing special, just a small pond by an old building. It was more interesting to see the 2 ducks swimming in the lake and dine at the restaurants in the area.
