There's not much of the castle left but its foundations and some paths. It's an interesting place all the same. It's very atmospheric; more so than some castles which are more intact. It has a commanding position, and you can see very nice vistas of...More

We came across the ruins by chance after visiting the 'Drum Tao' shop in Taketa (which is also worth a visit). The very helpful staff there suggested we see the ruins and we are glad we did. The visit proved great value as the fee...More

On a rainy morning we toured this amazing fortress castle, built for a samurai in the 12th Century. The ramparts dominate an impregnable, steep stone mountain, surrounded by a river system that served as a natural moat. The massive gate, the stone walls and peculiarly...More

Main structures such as keeps were lost at the beginning of the Meiji era in the mid-19th century however; its grand scale can be seen and felt by walking up the hill to the top of the castle. Impressive views to look over the mountains...More

I traveled Okajou-shi (the site of Okajou Castle) in a packaged tour . I was not expecting so much exciting as it is a place I never heard before, there might be only a stone fence as a legacy. It used be...More
