Not much of the castle remains and what is there is mostly reconstructed - the gate, several walls, some stairs, a moat. But it is very worthwhile to wander around the grounds and imagine what used to be. Several buildings still stand. They require an...More

Visited Obi Castle Town in August. Nothing impressive, can skip if you don't have much time. We visited the castle town after the Udo Shrine under a 4 hours excursion from Diamond Prince cruise costing US$99 per person.

We were lucky to have the place practically to ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Christmas Day. It was so peaceful and serene.

There is much history here. The remains of the castle are impressive, the museum has fascinating old costumes and crafts, though it is small. Perhaps the most lovely aspect are the wonderful gardens that surround the site. Beautiful greenery, gorgeously manicured, make this a beautiful...More

This area contains some castle ruins, a museum, several residential buildings, shops, etc., so it would take a long time to visit everything. The castle gate and huge stone entrance area walls are impressive. Don't miss the museum.

The walk up to this Castle takes you up a street lined with Samurai homes that have been restored to their Edo period look. Once on the Castle Grounds you'll see beautiful buildings and Japanese landscapes.

I went there for its historical value. However, I found this attraction was not so attractive and visitors have to pay admission fee for 610 yen also.

This is an old town with a couple of hundred years of history. But the actual buildings are not that old, and the town does not show compared with other towns of Japan.

You will have an opportunity to ride on a rickshaw. The guides there are very friendly and speak English. There is a guide map to follow and you can taste their local cuisine.

This castle is not as famous as the other castles in Japan, but it's a great place to visit if you are in Miyazaki Prefecture and want to indulge in historical scenery. It doesn’t have that “look at me” feeling that the other famous castles...More

Nice place to explore. I wish the castle museum were bigger. FYI, you can't take photos indie, even without a flash.
