was there skiing in late jan. these tree ice monsters existed above 1400m. if you ski down from the top of the cable car, then you'll be surrounded by them.

Yup from zao Tatayama will be near and than hakone
Hi When is the best time to view "fully-grown" snow monsters? Would it be late January or mid-February? Also, what would the temperature be like around this time? Thank you!

i believe would be from mid Jan till early March, the best in Feb, but of course depends on the snow condition and weather.

snow monster is the result of snow fallen on the trees top and repeated freezing and unfreezing under strong wind...In late April/May, despite the little forest is on the top of the mountain, snow should have/is melting... More
