We had a week at Appi Kogen and really enjoyed the skiing. With two Gondolas, it is easy to get from bottom to top quickly. Slopes are well groomed.

We stayed here (in the Grand Annex 1) during Feb 2018. There is a wide selection of runs for all abilities and also a Salomon snow board park for boarders. A small selection of slopes are open until 8pm for night skiing and are floodlit...More

Great skiing. The snow was fantastic and the crowds low, even on Sunday!! Fresh tracks still available at 2pm!! well worth a few days skiing. Reasonably big by Japanese standards. Ski school had English speaking staff. Lots of luck choices, prices OK.

Appi is the first place I have night snowboarded and it did not disappoint! There was three long lifts open and plenty of powder to be ridden under the chairlift. 10/10 would go again. My room at the Appi grand hotel was very spacious and...More

Was there with the family (2 young kids) and overall a great trip. Skiing wise, we were lucky to get mostly great sunny weather and the slopes were generally not that crowded when we were there in early Jan. There was night skiing that started...More

The lifts and on hill operations are pathetic!! You will spend half your day in line or on the slowest lifts in Japan! No doubling up, singles allowed to ride old triples. They really have no clue how to run a ski resort. The snows...More

Visited Appi Kogen in August. It was very quiet without lots of skiers but I visited the top of the mountain and saw the ski runs which looked great. I hope to come back in winter and try them.

Appi is a "bubble era" resort, which means it was purpose built for skiing and is not centred around a traditional village. A huge hotel complex sits at the base, with modern facilities. Lifts are a mixed bag of older style open chairs, covered chairs...More

We were a bit unlucky I think, as a lot of the runs on the mountain were closed due to a lack of snow - I believe a lot of them opened up after we left. The facilities look like they would be amazing if...More
