Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It ist the very first church built in the early Meiji area after several hundreds years of prohibition of Christianity. It faces sea to welcome christians coming by boats. There is a statue of one of 26 martyres executed in Nagasaki before Edo area and also those of two french pioneer Fathers.

Travelers are afforded free assistance from folks along the roadway. Access is probably also available via small boats.

One of the first churches we visiting on Fukue. Best place to start because it has a detailed history. Beautiful surroundings with coffee & cake shops along the road to the church.

It is located in remote area in the island. Since I didn’t have int’l driver license, we had to use taxi from the port. We spent 6000yen rounds trip from the port and ended at our hotel near to the port.
It is small church but provides us very interesting information with pictures. It is a museum. To me it was worth to get here.

Powerful and moving building in Gothic Style. Expanded in renovations, but still alive as a church from the 1800's. Hidden Christians worshipped "illegally in the region". Martyrs and sacrifices made here are inspiration to us all. Best wishes and continued prayers for the Church in Japan!

Around 6km away from the center of Fukue. rent a car is recommended. Located in very peaceful place and by the ocean.

When we visited, it was closed so we could not enter the inside. but ok.

I parked my car about 200 meters away from the church and walked to the church. The color of the sea spreading out to my right was beautiful.
It was a beautiful church made of red bricks, so I took many photos. I was impressed by the crucified statue of St. John Goto, who was martyred in Nagasaki in 1597, near the main entrance of the church.
Photography was not allowed inside the church. As I recall, there was not only a place to pray, but also a corner where old books and other things were on display.
I think it is one of the must-see tourist attractions on Fukue Island.
