This 19th-century frigate was restored from near complete ruin to its former glory, and now is decaying again. It used to have full masts and rigging and it sported a decent paint job; now the masts have been sawn off and the whole thing looks drab. Inside there are far too many plaques referring to recent events, "His Excellency this and that", when the focus should be on recreating the atmosphere of the past. There is still stuff to be learnt here, but it's fast becoming a depressing experience.

Very cool looking and historic ship, it's located nearby the ferry terminal so it's easy to reach from the city, normally it can be visited, I'm sure the inside is very interesting, but due to the current covid-19 restrictions, it's temporarily closed... there's also a submarine next to it, check it out!

We didn't get in as it was closed. From the outside, is a nice boat. I can't talk about the museum inside.

Very nice frigate largely restored allowing a nice visit and providing a nice experience. Travelling from Lisbon by boat is easy, cheap and very interesting as Lisbon provides a excellent view.

This is an old east India trading company ship which provides an interesting insight into the history of life at sea. Good value for money and informative with information in several languages

It is not the original ship as that was burnt down. Re build is well done. Gives good flavour of life of the explorers. Low entry cost. Ferry from end of green metro line to Cacilhas.

The ship could be overlooked when coming to visit The main attraction in Almada but I think it is worth looking for. The ship has been restored to a very high standard and we very much enjoyed reading about the history.

To visit that vessel is amazing. You can imagine you are sailing to India, because it's the last vessel to do this way. It's very well preserved and worths a visit.

I visited this magnificent warship which was under restoration in the DryDock . A small fee is charged to see the deck and under deck of this 18 th Century vessel which was on the Portugal India run- whilst on duty she was fitted out with 50 guns and has a wooden Hull and she sailed 100000 nms ( equivalent to about five times around the world) . She caught fire in 1963 whilst in Portugal and lay in the Tagus river until the Navy decided to restore her starting 1990 and she was restored to her former glory and became a museum ship. Absolutely fascinating to visit her and see life on board in the past.
A definite must see for ship enthusiasts. Good for family visits and children too will enjoy it.
Only short coming I found was that they did not have any brochures in English to take away as a memento of your visit. So i happily purchased the Portuguese language brochure. A fascinating couple of hours spent onboard, lost in appreciating the vessel.
