Matrimandir in Auroville is the ultimate place to visit when you are in search of peace and tranquillity! The place is very calm and quiet. In order to get inside the Matrimandir, you need to book slot in advance and go inside for meditation. If you do not have any reservation, then you will be allowed to visit the place... More

Not sure what to make of the whole experience. The people of Auroville have created an incredible building, both in terms of architecture and construction quality. They have added a whole mystical like procedure to getting inside, from the difficulty of access to the taking off shoes to walk on the pristine white carpet and the demand for absolute silence... Okay so Aurovillians are really uptight. No bags, valuables etc and strictly no talking in the beautiful gardens. Personally I get the feeling that they don't want to share Matrimandir with non-Aurovillians. Nonetheless it pays off to go through the whole process of registering a day or two in advance because the architecture of the Matrimandir is truly amazing. The... More

Nice Location and View of Matrimandir from Outside. Big green trees and nice walking stretch from the Visitor Center. They have shuttle service to and fro free of cost as well from the Visitor Center. If you want to meditate Inside the Matrimandir, book in advance. We spent only 3 Hours so we had only the Glimpse of Auroville but... More

Unique architecture and an amazing structure in the middle of a international intentional community. The inner chamber is something to be seen at least once in a lifetime.

The visit to matramandir started with a short documentary which explained about matramandir and how it started as well as reasoning behind the architecture. Model of Matramadir together with various art was displayed in another room. 2 km return walk was equally rewarding with viewing of the Dome and garden. Worth the visit with no entry fee.

I am not that much satisfied. We have to see this temple from almost 200 meter distance and only one side. Place is filled with natural beauty but still only to see outside of temple is not worthy. Good for time pass only.

It was one of the terrible experiences that I just had in matri mandir. We had prior pass with tokens 61,62and 63 and reached before time (8.30 am). After watching the video we are supposed to take the bus ride but my old age father went to restroom. My old age mother and I waited as my father returned back... More
