Words and pictures cannot portray the beauty and serenity of this place. The whole backdrop and view is surreal-- not an electric pole or wire to be seen which is a rarety in Japan!!!!

This temple is famous for it's location that is over a hanging cliff. The platform of the main hall being supported by 139 giant pillars.

I've heard that this temple was a good spot to see Koyo so I decided to get there. The temple was on the mountain and I had to drive up there. There was no English sign there and it made it difficult to find the temple. There was not many people there so the temple was calm. It would be... More

A very nice touristy spot. Very hot in summer though. The path leading to the temple is lined with shops selling local foodstuff and souvenirs. The temple is built on a slightly elevated ground. I didn't get a chance to enter the worship halls but the surrounding gardens and landscape were quite photo-worthy. Definitely worth a visit if you have... More

The area is huge! Lots of places to rent kimonos, lots of places to buy souvenirs and shop around. The temple is amazing with a multi roof pagoda in the area. There are also multiple small shrines and monuments in that area, meaning you're able to spend much more time there. My only major complaint is the lack of food... More

I walked bout 10-15 mins to reach the temple from bus parking area, not so tired because many souvenir shops and food stop along the street. The weather was perfect to walk around the temple, windy but sunny.
