Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good to see. They have built recreations over the sites. Farmers will not give the land to govt. They have built a cement pyramid and rock ball court. Museum is still all in Spanish. Do your homework before you go. The jungle patch to see the ruins all enhance. No jungle. No little store across the street to sit and relax with a soda. went to Barra de Potois for lunch!

We decided to pay for a cab to the archeological site and hired a private tour guide, I feel it was the best decision, because the guide explained everything clearly and to our pace, we paid 600 pesos for the cab and 250 pesos to the tour guide. We took lots of great photos , and also he took us to the town la chole which was built above the tribes cemetery, it was a day my family and I will remember for the rest of our lives. Ball court and pyramid are amazing, the museum was very cool.

Jose's the man! He is so knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with. We had an experience of a lifetime!! Thank you Jose for showing us the amazing culture! Hands-down best tour EVER! If you're in this area and are thinking of taking this tour or any other tour please get a hold of Jose Manuel Guzman Rosario!! Jose also took us to PadreJesus de Patatlan and a really authentic coconut plantation! I will never forget this day! So fun.

I've visited this site twice in the past two years. They've done a great job with putting together the museum and the workers try very hard to explain the timeline and history of the site. The off site excavation sites were very interesting and the guides eager to share the uses and stories of each one.

We met up with his Seahawks colored cab in Zihuatanejo. Jose' is raised in Zihuatanejo and very knowledgeable, informative and bright. He has a great personality. His English is also good and clear. We went on several tours with Jose'........ each one delightful.
One tour was to Troncones. We had a great time and lunch at Majahual Palms. Another day we went to the Coconut candy factory. We saw the ruins and had lunch in Barra.
We also went fishing. Jose and his son came along with me. I caught a beautiful fish and Jose is holding it in the pic. His wife cooked it up for brunch.
Don't forget him for all your travel needs. And visit his wife's restaurant for a home cooked fish.
What a great time we had......... enjoy

The archeological site and ancient temples are a must-see on Guerrero's Costa Grande, as is the church in the town of La Chole. Artifacts and archeological findings are well-explained in the nearby Museo Xihuacan, a relatively new building. Best of all, we were lucky enough find Adan to be our tour guide, one of the brothers who unearthed most of the artifacts and who is incredibly knowledgable about the pre-colonial trade networks that brought artifacts from all over Mexico to this site in Guerrero.

My deceased husband and daughter went to LaChole every Sunday for 15 years plus. They got to know the family there. Amazing memories! I go to see the enormous progress and realize the incredible archeological sites as a tribute to my family. It's definitely worth the drive!

Studies and digs at this rare archaeological site on the Pacific coast have only recently been undertaken, and the site is drawing more interest as more is learned about the ancient settlement and its inhabitants. It's located near the town of Petatlan within about a half-hour's drive of Zihuatanejo, and if you're into exploring, a visit to the site and particularly its small museum are are well worth the effort. Some of the guides speak English and listening to their knowledge of the site and its history, both modern and ancient, is very helpful in understanding the significance of the site.

They have improved the museum and we had a guided tour in English. They have uncovered more of the ruins. It was nice to tour this site.
