Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited here first thing in the morning during my trip to Yamanashi. I was very lucky to be taken there by a friend who had been there a few times. I think I wouldn't have been able to understand a lot of things if it was my first time.

I arrived at the parking lot in the middle of the night. It was cloudy so I was worried that I wouldn't be able to see the sunrise or Mt. Fuji, but Mt. Fuji was right in front of me❗️It was amazing.

It was early in the morning but there were quite a few customers →It's Sunday after all?

I was able to take a long, relaxing bath~

The only thing that was unfortunate was that this bath was under construction.
By the time I left, they were handing out numbered tickets. It's very popular~

I'd like to go again if I have the chance.
Thank you😊

There are two baths, "Acchi no Yu" and "Kocchi no Yu."
This time I tried "Acchi no Yu."
It looks like a shack, but it was clean.
I wasn't able to see Mt. Fuji this time. When you enter the Infinity Hot Springs, you can see a spectacular view that is one with nature, and it's wonderful to soak in the hot springs while looking out at the Kofu Basin and the surrounding mountains.

You can reach Hottarakashi Onsen (Yen700) from Yamanashishi JR Station by either taxi (Yen2,150) or bus (Yen100, 1030/1340/1645hrs <> 1040/1350/1500hrs) getting off at the Fujiya Fruit Park Hotel terminus. From here follow the road uphill, past the go kart circuit; it is a 30min walk uphill to Hottarakashi. You will be rewarded with a delightful onsen in rustic surroundings and great view Mt Fuji.
You may also want to visit Puku Puku Onsen (Yen800) which is adjacent to and uphill from the Fujiya Hotel. This is a more modern facility, with great view of Mt Fuji and the valley below

The place is entirely tattoo friendly. They have two separate onsen facilities both of which are the "buy a ticket at the machine and then hand to the person at the counter for entry" types, but both have nice outdoor baths that offer (if the atmospheric conditions are propitious) stunning views of Fujisan. You should bring yout own towel and you might want to bring any conditioner or body soap you like to use since just offer basic body wash and shampoo.

I use this onsen as a stopover at end of my weekend getaways into the mountains, and its perfect for that since its easy in and out. Not sure if it would make a great destination in and of itself.

We had a little trouble finding an onsen that would allow my partner to bathe due to his tattoos.
This place was perfect! We got there by car and it was well worth the trip. The onsen was clean and quiet with an amazing view.
Spent a little time after just relaxing and taking in the view with a beer. The fried eggs are a must try! Surprisingly delicious.

One of the most memorable onsen experiences ever, once in the rotenburo (outside hot spring bath). Imagine Mt Fuji appearing in front of you as the sun rises, while immersed in a therapeutic hot spring at dawn. We stayed at the Chisun Inn Kofu Isawa and left a little after 5:30 am. Only a 10-15 minutes drive up the mountain, Hottarakashi Onsen is unassuming in facilities and entry fee; after all it has the killer view. Dining at Tiida restaurant the night before near the Chisun Inn proved to be a wise selection. Tiida serves surprisingly good Western and Japanese dishes using the freshest of local ingredients in a charming western environment. The wine list carries some intersting local wines worth trying. Make sure to ask the waiter for advice.

This place had a lovely great view of mount fugi and also of kofu.
If you have tattoos then don't be afraid to come here as this is the only place I would say is that they don't mind.
I think the thing that really bothers me is the place is sooooo old! There was no conditioner to wash your hair with and the stone floor was extremely slimy and potentially a hazard.
This hot spring has so many potentials it just looks like they are not too bothered with it.
The place is either moulding in certain areas or the metal frames of the building is rusting away.
The place did not provide any sort of body lotion or small things you may need after a hot spring.
Considering it's one of the famous onsen I left feeling disappointed. I have been to so many and this place is the best for views but not very sanitary which is such a shame.

This onsen opens 1 hour before sunrise. Pretty rustic but really nice onsen. There are two areas, Kocchi (here) has smaller tubs but better view of Mt. Fuji. Acchi (there) has larger baths with more dynamic view of the city (better at night). You need to pay separately for each areas. I'd imagine the best time to go is in colder weather, keep the head fresh while soaking in the tub to just take in the view.

Top of the mountain location gives a great panoramic view. We went into the smaller area, right side. Changing area and washing area are covered. The onsen baths are in the open. Pick up a Vietnam-hat, and check bath temperature (only labeled in Japanese), one is quite hot!
Going Down the path on the left leads to a third bigger pool.

Bring your own bath towel and "washing" towel from home.

Another onsen on the right side of the complex (separate admission)
Pay coin lockers.
