After TOYAMA marathon,we stayed.1 hour Morning walking with guide was discovery of a history of this town, developped by water electrical power. This town is famous for the Torroco train, many tourist get on to go to the peak. Not only for tourists but workers at KUROBE DAM get on for work. In autumn, you can enjoy beutiful falliage around the valley.

Returned here since 2010. Though the fall foliage has passed its peak, it still offered a nice deep autumn atmosphere in the onsen town. Nice onsen to enjoy especially after a local train ride into the Kurobe gorge.

Nothing fancy about the area but, being tucked away in the mountains, it's a great little escape. The onsen (spring water) was fantastic (silky & smooth and not too strong). At night, we enjoyed the locals dancing - "Echu-Owara" (during the last week of Aug and mid-Sept). The dancers were very beautiful and their movements so serene - a great... More

This place is a good place to stay over the night if you want to ride the train of Kurobe Gorge. We arrived around 6PM, and there was nobody in the streets! Too quiet that we laughed about it. However, in the morning the area around the stations were quite filled with tourists, mostly elders and photography-lovers. The whole area... More
