Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I like animals, but don't like seeing animals locked up. While the animals are not in small cages they are still enclosed in areas that aren't big enoug for them to run around in they also have roads and cars driving past them all day. It was about 37°c when we visited and that is very unnatural temperature for a number of the animals who definitely looked uncomfortable in the heat.

Gunma Safari Park is one of two safari parks in Japan. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I went. You can visit the areas with your own car or by boarding their buses. My friend and I opted to use our car.
It was quite amazing being able to drive through and see all the animals surrounding us. To be able to see the animals up close was quite interesting. I couldn't believe that a lion was only a few feet away, let alone a whole pack.
We stopped by the walking zoo area and were able to interact with some of the other animals, including feeding the goats.
Overall the experience was fantastic and I'd recommend it to people looking for a good day out. If you live in the area, you can even get an annual pass at an affordable cost.

I'm not an animal lover.
Actually I don't like them.
But, this park amazed me by their great attractions.
Lions, tigers, and many others are just 30cm away.
How can't you be amazed.
Other attractions allow you to feed animals including lions and tigers.
You can experience the difference of the style of the lions and tigers eat flesh...
Thanks God, its not my flesh 😅
I thought it was a bit expensive at the entrance, but pretty much satisfied at the end.

A small scam (but still scam no matter of the size) at the entrance. They charged us for the useless "radio guide" as they took our admission money. Then after we realised they had charged us for this and said we don't need it, they said they can't refund us as we already paid for it.
Also, I was a little concerned about the animals. The whole point of a safari is that the animals roam free instead of in enclosures like a zoo. Kind of defeats the point when it contains a zoo as well.

It was easy to find and we travelled in our own car
It was about 2000 yen per person, 500 yen for the electronic Tablet and about 500 yen for the car
There were many animals to see but I think the place needed a bit of maintenance here and there
The Staff were very good and when you entered the secure areas where the Lions were etc there was a staff car present which was good
Its definitely worth while visiting

We actually visited the park as a bad-weather alternative on the spur of the moment and didn't regret our choice for a second!
We toured the park in our own car, which allows for a bit more independence than the buses that are available, even though you're actually not supposed to stop on the route, as you're likely to hold up cars behind you. But that is easier said than done, with the large number of beautiful animals lying beside and crossing your path!
We liked the layout of the park and often felt as if we were in the midst of Africa...
Anyone wanting to get close to wild animals and seeing them in a location that comes close to their natural habitat, rather than in cages in a zoo, this offers a splendid opportunity to do so.
And for those who want to have some additional fun of a different kind afterwards, they can make use of the adjacent amusement park.
A perfect day out for the whole family and for people of any age!

The visit can be made with your own car or by taking one of the attractions'own buses. Plenty of animals. Plan ahead if you want to take the bus, as there is a limited number of buses, and they get full quickly.

We used the feeding (esa) bus, which was a great idea. It was cold outside, but on the bus we didn't really feel it. We got grass and meat for feeding buffaloes and lions. The park is not big, honestly I expected to see a bit more animals, for example elephants, etc. Anyway, my 2yo loved it, that was the most important thing for us.
