I think this is a top 5 destinations among people visiting the Dolomites. We stayed in Corvara in Badia. We came around 10 pm. Still lucky to get a parking which is across the ticket office of the cable car. I did not want to wake up early to go up the mountains here because I am on vacation though many suggested to wake up early so you could still get a parking. Fortunately, in our 1 week stay in the Dolomites, there was only 1 place which we did not get to see which is the Lago di Braies. We were stopped to drive farther as we have not paid a toll entering the road leading to the lake. We did not know about this toll fee and we were willing to pay in card right there but the people there said that they do not receive cash and they do not have the card machine. The only way to pay is to download the app. Many cars have to turn around. I went to the website but there are 2 languages available on the app, Italian and German. Well, I guess it is a measure to reduce the number of people going to that famous lake.

Fortunately here, going up Sass Pordoi via the Passo Pordoi has no toll. One gets to pay the cable car fee anyway.

Up there, I could describe the place as being in the moon. It was rocks but they made a pathway that even people in wheelchairs could drive. I love it! It is inkluderende as we say in Norwegian. They made it accessible to all kinds of people, with good legs or if your are wheelchair bound.

They have a rifugio or a restaurant upstairs. Unfortunately, we just had our breakfast in the hotel so we were not hungry.

Be prepared that the weather is cooler up there. It was 9C but down the ticket office, you could easily just wear shorts and a t-shirt. We wore our hiking pants, had scarf, beanie, a sweater and of course, a windbreaker jacket. We also brought our hiking sticks. HIking sticks are so important for us now.

Today we decided to go to the Passo Pordoi. From there we took the train up to 2295m - the summit of the Saas Pordoi.
We can really recommend the trip to everyone. At the top you have a great view of the peaks of the Dolomites.
In between you can also treat yourself to a meal in the restaurant. The prices are all quite reasonable.
We had a really great time up there.

Easy to reach by cable car although you can walk up in about 1:30 to the fork. 360 degree spatial panorama. Lunar landscape.
The excursion to the Capanna is recommended for walkers but it is quite challenging in the last stretch. Always beautiful but in summer you can move around while in winter depending on the snow you are more blocked near the arrival of the cable car. The refuge is also good as a bar and restaurant.
Advised !!!

I was on this mountain with my girlfriend during a holiday in Val di Fassa. The summit can be reached on foot, by climbing with a rope or with the cable car that starts from the pass of the same name. We chose the last option which is the fastest. From here you can admire a wonderful 360" panorama of the Dolomites. You can also see the Marmolada, the highest peak in the area, very well. Adjacent to the cable car arrival station there is a refuge that hosts diners both outdoors and indoors We were there in mid-August and the temperature was high around lunch, there were more than twenty degrees centigrade and you could easily stay in a t-shirt.

Great cable car ride to the top. excellent views and nice snow even at the end of summer. The restaurant at the top has good views and not too expensive. Recommended but does need good weather for the views.

Gorgeous gorgeous place. Beautiful views all round the Sella Ronda but especially here. Passed through at least 3 times in variety of weather. Sunny days and snowy. The latter was great as Al the fair weather skiers stayed inside ! Might have to go back with more than one teenager !

You do not need to catch the cablecar to the top - there is a hiking path (path 627) that starts next to the Fausto Coppi Memorial and leads to the Refugio Forcella Pordoi at the top of the pass. From there it is a short walk to the top of the cablecar, or you can climb to the top of the mountain at Piz Boè (path 638). Any moderately fit person should manage.

So many wow moments going up Pordoi Pass via the safe but very steep cable car. Upon arrival the feeling was magical, like being in a fairytale, scenery like Ive never seen before with the rugged rocks and a thick blanket of snow (late May 2018) The Dolomites and in particular Pordoi Pass are a sight you will never forget, breathtaking

At almost 3000m high you feel like you are on top of the world. From Bordoi Pass you get there by taking a 4min long journey by cable car. The views are just mesmerising, there was still fair bit of snow but not that cold. We stayed there for 2 hours just admiring the nature, i could have easily stayed whole week. It is just one of the most beautyful spots on earth and I highly recommend. There is a restaurant right up there with nice food esp the traditional goulash as well as a gift shop.

We parked the car in the pass and took the cable car up to 2950 m height, return ticket 18 euro. Cable car is very modern, big and very stable during movement, takes few minutes to get up. There is a big terrace with restaurant on the top, serving basic food, but we are not after food there, right? 360 degrees panorama, one of the best in Dolomites. If dressed properly, shoes are very important, and have some hiking gear like sticks for safety it's nice to make some hike to Rif.Forcela. Even without hike the views are stunning, breathtaking, just enjoy your moments there in peace.
