We were on a bus tour that included the Aquarium. Like the other reviewers, I thought the dolphin exhibit pretty containing for them and some of the other animals. We were there for their feeding and show which the crowd loved. We also saw them feeding the main aquarium tank which included huge rays, which was cool to see up... More

Old, dirty and small. I'm worried about the animals.. Many of the areas for the animals are very small. We went because of the "swim with dolphins in the ocean" ad. It's a super tiny circle with 5 other people for 30 mins and 2 dolphin. Definitely not what we imagined and quite expensive. Definitely not worth it and felt... More

This is not a good aquarium. The animals were in very constrained tanks except for the dolphins that seemed to be a more natural environment. Old and not friendly for the animals.

Shows are at various locations. You feel that the animals perform with joy. Some of the animals in display should get more space, like the king pinguines.

Terrible terrible impression of this place, to house a sea turtle in a tiniest tank was heartbreaking to see, I really do hope the housing and treatment of these animals are reconsidered and that anyone who cares about animals does not support their business! Please think about this before you pay them a visit... As a turtle that is used... More

Great to see dolphins and seals up close and other small but impressive collection of marine life. The jelly fish display is superb. We spent about 3 hours including a quick lunch and enjoyed Shimoda Aquarium. It is small, friendly and genuine and gives a more inclusive feeling compared to big places. Worth a visit with family if in Shimoda.... More

Shimoda Floating Aquarium has dolphins living in a net separated ocean bay, sea lions, sea otters, wonderful tanks of jelly fish and fish, and a large tank with an amazing array of fish including a school of smaller fish. The dolphins and sea lions are trained and put on fantastic shows. (Remember I am not a big fan of aquariums... More

The Shimoda aquarium is a short 500-700 meter walk from the Shimoda train station. You have to go through a small tunnel under a mountain. You then reach a bay, surrounded by rocks/cliffs. The bay is transformed into a big pool for dolphins, who are kept busy all day. We were in the aquarium on a sunny off season day... More

Even though the aquarium is quite small and slightly worn, it's fun to visit for a couple of hours on a clear day. It's not a very busy aquarium either so you can get good views of all the fish and other marine animals they have. The dolphin shows are also incredible to watch and what I admire about this...
